1. To Let the Author of the Article Know You Read Their Article
Not only will you possibly intrigued other readers of the articles that you commented on to click on your avatar or pen name to view your work there is an unspoken agreement among many content producers at Associated Content of “you scratch my back and I will scratch your back.” So there is a good chance that if you leave a comment on an article that the author of the article will view an article of yours. If you see that someone has commented on your piece and you decide that you would like to look at one of their pieces it is a good idea to comment. You won’t have to say in the comment “thanks for looking at my work yours is nice too” or anything like that. Simply go the content page of the content producer who commented your work and look at the articles that they have published. Click on one that is of interest to you and read and comment it. A nice friendly circle is created and both of the content producers are helping one another out.
2. Share That You Have an Article That Readers May Also Enjoy
If you happen to have written an article that expands the topic of an article that you have read you can mention it in your comment, if you feel that either the author will be interested in it or if you think that the readers of the article that you are reading would want to read it. Either mention “I also have written on this topic” or something along that line or post the URL to the article. Keep in mind that many people may feel that you are merely spamming your article on through their comments and may delete your comment if you leave the URL, others will not be bothered by it at all. If someone is truly interested in reading the article that you have mentioned they will check out your profile to view it.
3. Show That You Rated the Article
When you rate an article, you should leave a comment so other readers of the article will have a better perceptive of how many people read the article. For the articles that are top rated and only have one or two comments will appear to be fraudulently rated. Thus, by rating an article high and not leaving a comment will make it appear that the author rated themselves high and not the readers of their article. Also, if an author suspects that a reader down rated their article more than once they may be inclined to up rate themselves. So in order to establish how many times an article was rated readers who rate an article should leave a comment. Something that content producers at Associated Content might pass on to their loyal reader, often friends and family, that are not content producers at Associated Content to comment anytime that they rate an article. They can make a comment even if they are not registered and can make a pen name if they do not want to use their real name.
4. Give Constructive Feedback
One reason that you should leave a comment is to give constructive feedback on what you thought about the article. In the long run constructive criticism can help an author better their writing skills and constructive praise can make an author feel more confident in their writing.
5. To Give the Author of the Article a Better Guess At How Many Page Views That They Have for That Article
If everyone who read an article left a comment on the article the author of the article would know just how many people read their article as well as know how many page views that they got.
6. To Ask Questions That You Have
One thing that is nice about being able to comment on an article is that you can ask a question that you have without having to contact the author. This is nice because leaving a comment is quicker and if other readers have the same question they can see the comment that the author of the article left for a response.
7. To Offer Extended Knowledge on The Content of the Article
If you know an interesting fact on the content of the article you can share it with the author of the article as well as the other readers by leaving a comment with the interesting fact in it.
8. As an Author You Can Respond to the Comments That are Left on Your Articles
If someone leaves a comment on your article you can respond to them. This is especially a good idea when the comment that someone leaves contains a question. You can even respond with a “thanks for the comment” or “I agree with what you are saying” if you like.
Sometimes by saying a simple two word phrase you can leave a constructive comment and help people know whether you enjoyed the piece as well as help decipher how many times an article was rated, how many page views the article generated and who read the article.
