WinterPlace Ski Resort
With over 90 ski able acres this is the sure place to stop. They are conventionally located off the freeway. This is good for me, because I get lost really easy. The less turns there are the better. They have 28 trails and a Terrain Park. They have 17 lanes that are designated for snow tubing. If you haven’t tried snow tubing I suggest that you do try it. Its really fun, and if you cant stand up on skies very well, like me, then tubing will be your thing. They have 2 quads, 2 doubles, 3 triples, 2 super carpet lifts and 1 surface lifts. They offer many rentals including new top of the line Rossignol shaped skis. They are known as the highest snow making capacity per acre in the Southeast, Plus they have 100% snow making capability on every trail. Perhaps your children wanted to go and they seen the large hills and chicken out. That’s okay, they offer on site daycare.
This is a great place for winter fun. There is something for everyone at this place, even if they don’t like the snow. There are a lot of things to be done here. I don’t see being able to do them all in one day. You would definitely need a weekend for this awesome place. You first stop should be at the Big Top. This is the newest place here. Under the big top you will find a video cafe, weekend dance parties, classic arcade games and billiards. Enjoy the carnival style food, awesome movies they show or play some Foosball. Roxy Women’s Ski and Snowboard Camp should be the next stop. This is a great day to spend with just the girls. All us women know a day out with the girls can become a blast. This is for girls of all ages. They also have women’s only goody bags, chill time with a Roxy pro and chances to test all their newest gear. Sunrise Back country Hut is the place you will want to go for your sleeping needs. Nestled nearly two miles out on the Cheat Mountain Ridge Trail is this wonderful place. This is a rustic cabin setting and sleeps 8 people. This place is ran by a Hut Master who is on call to take care of all your needs and to cook you a gourmet breakfast and dinner. Some other great adventures offered here are Snowmobiling with tour available, Snow Tubing At Ruckus Ridge and a snow cat Tour. There are many activities for the kids as well including Snow Monsters where kids will learn more about skiing and snowboarding. They also offer a Kids night out where the kids can get away from the parents and the parents will know they are safe. This place sounds like loads of fun.
