Fu Lin, a Chinese restaurant in Perth Amboy, has some pretty tasty dishes if I must say so myself. And as far as Chinese restaurants go in Perth Amboy, there aren’t too many. Thank goodness this Chinese restaurant has some pretty good fare. And what other Chinese restaurant, or any restaurant for that matter, will give you a free can of coke (soda, we call everything coke down south) with just a $10 dollar purchase! They also have free delivery.
Prices at this particular Chinese restaurant are quite reasonable, too. Fu Lin’s prices range from $1.10 to $11.75. Not bad when you consider many Chinese restaurants have forgotten that the American consumer kind of expects Chinese restaurants to dole out alot of food for an inexpensive price. While it is understandable that they, too, as Chinese restaurants are pressed by the economy, yet somehow Fu Lin is going against the norm and still offering lots of tasty food at a relatively cheap price.
Their menu, when you include their specials, appetizers, combination plates, etc., is fairly large, 202-items to be exact. They cook up and serve all of the usual Chinese restaurant items; egg rolls, won-ton soup, fried rice, etc. But the menu goes a bit beyond that. At 202-items you can expect that you’ll find at least one of your favorites on the menu. Their most expensive item, one of the chef’s specialties, Bird’s Nest, is all sorts of seafood in a crispy fried noodle nest. Creative to say the least. My personal favorite, as I’m still one of those folks that still want to get alot of bang for my buck when it comes to a Chinese restaurant and any restaurant for that matter, is the Kung Po Chicken lunch special. Mmm good! And the food is always falling off the edge of my plate and piled high.
Another great thing about this particular Chinese restaurant is that they have a special section of the menu dedicated to Diet Food. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen that before in a Chinese restaurant. Anyhow 16 dishes that are diet-friendly isn’t a bad idea when creating a menu. The decor is typical of any Chinese restaurant. However the seating is quite cozy as it mainly consists of dark booths tucked all the way through the back of the restaurant. The service is above par, too, in all the ways they get their food to you, take-out, delivery, and dine-in. The only drawback I’ve found is when I’m ordering by phone as there really is a language gap. Other than that, by the looks (and tastes) of it these folks have got it all down when it comes to what a Chinese restaurant should be all about.
