Bryson City, North Carolina is such a beautiful little town. When you first arrive in Bryson City, you will think you’ve stumbled upon the set of a movie. The town honestly looks like the small towns you see in the movies. The people are friendly and as the holidays roll around people become even friendlier. Also as Christmas gets closer, the people of Bryson City take part in several holiday events.
The lights go up in mid November and the town starts to turn into a holiday paradise. On December 2nd the town takes part in several Christmas events. There is a holiday 5k race, which is followed by the Christmas parade. Then on December 8th, the town has a beautiful celebration called the Spirit of Christmas.
The Spirit of Christmas Celebration, in Bryson City, has so much to offer. First of all, there is a living Nativity scene. There are also hay rides throughout the town and local merchants give away free treats. There are also carolers and at local restaurants you will be able to sit down and enjoy a wonderful meal filled with all kinds of comfort foods. But, the best part of this celebration is the lights. Bryson City is simply gorgeous when it’s covered in Christmas lights. There are old timey light poles down Everett Street that get wrapped in garland, lights, and bows and they are so beautiful. Bryson City, decorates the town to have a nostalgic look. Shop windows are all lit up with Christmas lights and have wonderful Christmas displays.
During the Spirit of Christmas Celebration, kids will even get to meet Mr. and Mrs. Claus. This is really something you must see, whether you planned on visit Bryson City or are just passing through on your way to Harrah’s Cherokee Casino or even farther on to Asheville.
