2. Alana’s is located at 2333 North High Street. This local restaurant at first may not be considered romantic. But once you get inside you will not only notice the bright colors and wonderful art work displayed on the walls, you will find that every table has a lit candle. Not your usual romantic spot, but still romantic just the same. The menu is made for meat eaters and those on a vegan diet (perfect for today’s modern eater). Most meals will cost you between $31 and $40. The menu changes weekly, so frequent diners will never get bored by the food at Alana’s. They also serve superb salads. 3. L’Antibes is located at 772 North High Street. This is a very popular French restaurant that has limited seating (only 14 tables). For this reason, it should be needless to say that a reservation is a must. The atmosphere is intimate with candelit tables. The owner is the chef himself, Dale Gussett. His style of French cooking is considered a classic continental version. The menu changes according to what fresh ingredients he is able to order. He only believes in preparing food made from fresh ingredients. Some of the most popular items on his menu is: Buckwheat crepe with a trio of caviar that is served as an appetitizer, his inventive salads and his veal sweetbreads that are served with in a light sauce of noisette butter, lemon, chardonnay and capers. If ever here for dinner, you also much sample the chef’s own crusty, house bread that he bakes himself. Meals here will usually run you $40 and higher. 4. Lindey’s is located at 169 East Beck Street. Lindey’s is popular for its food and its atmosphere. It is located in a restored 1850’s building located in the beautiful German Village area. It’s main dining room has floor to ceiling windows, which is ideal in the winter time when there is a bit of snow on the outside streets. The view looks like a picture post card. The menu is traditional American style prepared in traditional ways. Some of their customers favorites are; New Zealand lamb chops, served with garlic mashed potatoes and topped with crispy fried leeks, crab cakes are popular as appetizers or as dinner, lobster garganelli pasta served in a cream sauce of lobster meat, asparagus and tomato and we must not forget their most popular desert item, vanilla bean cream brulee.
