Photos of Blue Willow Ware or Blue Willow Ware dishes
This is an easy Blue Willow Ware Stationary project if you break it down into a number of different steps and don’t let them overwhelm you.
The first step is to find some Blue Willow Ware images. Look at dishes as well as photos for inspiration. Look for different shapes and pattern sizes. The Blue Willow Ware Stationary will need to be big enough to include all of the information you want on the inside.
Once you have found a variety of Blue Willow Ware images you will want to lay them out on a flat surface.
Now you are ready to cut your chosen Blue Willow Ware patterns out on your stencil. Trace them lightly with marker and then cut them out. For super sharp edges onto your Blue Willow Ware Stationary I highly recommend using a very sharp exacto knife. You may need to change the blade if you are doing a lot of stationary.
Lay your sheet of acetate on top and trace them and cut them out. You want to cut out the white areas and leave the blue in.
You can make a variety of different Blue Willow Ware Stationeries or stick with one pattern.
Once your Blue Willow Ware Stationary shapes are cut out you are ready to start painting. I like to take a paper plate and lay out a palette of vibrant blue paint colors from my watercolor paints. Do not add water.
Specifically I like to use cobalt blue. You can use any color you want. Before I paint my Blue Willow Ware stationary stencil cutouts I always practice a little on a piece of scrap watercolor paper.
This way I don’t waste a lot of my water color cards trying to get the look I want. .
Now, gently start brushing it along the edges of your Blue Willow Ware stencil on the Stationary. Use the stencil brush.
Slowly work your way in to the middle of the Blue Willow Ware stencil.
There are special water color mediums you can buy at any art supply or craft supply store that are meant to be added to water color paints to create different effects. Some mediums add a sand like texture or even a granite type texture. You can also find shimmering effects and others that just keep the paint wet longer allowing you to really work it.
You could add some of these mediums to you blue paint, but no water.
Allow your Blue Willow Ware Stationary to dry thoroughly and you are finished making your hand made hostess gift.
