Casino Royale is a great recreation and revitalization of the 007 series and the new blond bond, Daniel Craig went above and beyond my expectations. I was a huge fan of the Pierce Brosnan series of bond films, but after seeing the action packed thrill ride of Casino Royale i might have a new favorite on my hands.
I had low expectations at first but as soon as the movie began i was entranced, and lost in the new style of the bond films. It began with a crafty black and white scene and took no time going into the creative introduction. I noticed that for the first time there wasn’t the abundance of naked women dancing about in the artistry that was the colorful introduction, which tells the story of the movie without giving anything away.
Daniel Craig, portrays a crafty and intimidating Bond during the film. He holds the same appeal to the female audience as he exudes confidence and a debonair attitude as expected. And of course there is the cruel and deceptive villain, who always has a quirky aspect to him. In this movie it is a man who has an eye for making money from other peoples “mistakes”. His eye also suffers from a rare bleeding disorder from his tear duct, which adds a creepiness to the character.
The movie portrays Bond from the very beginnings, he makes his fair share of rookie mistakes and they cost him. Yet you forgive him because of how entertained you are along the way. The first half hour enthralls and amazes, it gives everything that the action junkie needs to get his or her fix. The movie also takes the viewer on a vacation with its exotic and beautiful locations, it seems to almost span the globe.
Most of the people who saw the movie enjoyed the poker aspect and the suspense that follows a high stake poker game, which comes later in the film. With the ever growing popularity of poker i found myself guessing at what the next card would be, or attempted to call bluffs, but perhaps the director had that in mind and fooled even the most professional of poker players.
The movie does have a lull, and you are not sure whether the movie is nearing its end, but due to the odd feeling you receive during that part of the movie and after you get over the shock of what has occurred you realized that it is a Bond film and that there is more to the story than meets the eye. The film stays true to the bond series while giving it a well deserved fresh new look.
I cannot wait for the next installment of the new series of James Bond 007 films. And the next Aston Martins to come, i cannot help but to look forward to Bond style be it cars, women, or vodka.
