And there are plenty of spring festivals all over Oklahoma celebrating just about everything that will make you forget the hard winter in a heart beat. There are spring festivals that celebrate the different heritages of the towns, the kind that celebrate the things we have in common with each other. The 2007 National Jazz Banjo Festival

If there is one instrument that is all American it is the banjo and the town of Guthrie, Oklahoma has one big celebration scheduled this year on Memorial Day Weekend. Music, gala dinners and an all American celebration to make for a great weekend get away. And if you have never had an up close and personal with banjo music, you have no idea what you are missing.
This year marks the 37th year that the town of McAlester, Oklahoma celebrates the Italian part of their heritage, and the do it in a big way. There will be two huge tents just filled with food, and plenty of vendors with more food, arts and crafts and souvenirs. There will be plenty of games and activities going on for the whole family to work off all that food. Check back on the web site as they are adding more information each day.
This annual festival celebrates the Czech heritage of Prague, Oklahoma and if you are looking for way to spent the first Saturday in May besides on the golf course or just hanging around , then come and help them celebrate. You just might want to make it an annual event. They have a tremendous arts and crafts area, a carnival, and some of the best food you have ever tasted.

Mayfest is a celebration of art and music in all its forms, from classical to rock and roll and everything else. They are expecting no less than 20 food vendors alone. They will have a special section to highlight the art of local students and a kids zone for the young ones to burn off all the extra energy and food.
Piedmont Pie Festival
Now this is a nice way to spend Mother’s Day out and about enjoying the beautiful spring sunshine in Oklahoma. Does Mom make the perfect pie? Then enter it. She just may be the big winner.
