Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus, right down Santa Clara Lane? Not exactly. Well we were in the Top 25 Parades in America. Here are some great events in Downtown San Jose for everyone to enjoy.
So we don’t have a lake and pine trees, but each year the Circle Of Palms becomes a winter wonderland of holiday ice skating. Starting on November 17th, Downtown Ice is open for the holidays every day of the week till January 15th.
So bring the whole family! Enjoy a cup of hot chocolate while you watch gleeful skaters slide across the ice under palm trees and the stars. You can find more at sjdowntown.com.
The holiday wouldn’t be a holiday without a 10 story Giant Gondola and a 60 foot tall Ferris wheel. Each year the San Jose Rep hosts San Jose’s Winter Wonderland. This holiday event offers something for the whole family. The kids can have a blast in the winter maze, on the Giant Gondola, on the Ferris wheel or on the many other rides. The San Jose Winter Wonderland has just added a Christmas Boutique, glass blowing demostration and chocolate sampling. Oh how I love the last part. Winter Wonderland will close its doors on December 31st.
Christmas in the Park
From November 24th to January 1st, Plaza de Cesar Chavez has turned into a winter wonderland. Hosting 60 animated displays, decorated trees from various San Jose schools and businesses, and thousands of glittering lights. The official city tree lighting ceremony is on November 24th.
A Christmas Story
We all know and love A Christmas Story. What better way to celebrate with the family than to take them to a live production of the film. The San Jose Repertory Thatre will be hosting A Christmas Story from November 25th till December 30th.
Season of Hope Cathedral
This 200 year old Cathedral hosts multicultural concerts from December 12th to December 23rd. for free. The Cathedral Basilica of St. Josepth does such a great work in the community. Though the concerts are free, I still give a small donation so that the church can still give back to the community.
Since 1985 The Center for the Performing Arts has been hosting The Nutcracker. The production is wonderful enjoyment for the whole family during the holidays. The theatre is decked out with lavish Christmas decor, you can listen to wonderful carolers and the Pocket Lady passes out toys for the kids.
