How many times have you been sitting around with family or friends trying to decide what type of pizza you want to order. If your friends and family are like mine it seems like everyone has a personal favorite, and you can never order enough different types to satisfy everyone. Well, Cici’s Pizza Buffet is opening restaurants throughout the country that will help you solve that problem. They have a buffet of very basic foods, that will satisfy pizza lovers of every age no matter what their pizza preference is.
The buffet at Cici’s isn’t all about pizza though. They also have a small salad bar, pasta and sauce, and cheese bread sticks to supplement your meal. The salad is rather plan with about eight different items to choose from and a few dressings. The pasta also is limited with usually a couple pasta choices and a marinara or alfredo sauce to go along with it. Remember though, this is a pizza buffet first and foremost.
Any time I have been at my local Cici’s they have a selection of anywhere from six to twelve pizzas on the buffet at one time. Of course they have your standard one topping pizzas and classic combinations like pepperoni and sausage. They also have some of the specialties people are familiar with such as the Hawaiian pizza (ham and pineapple) and a meat lover’s option with a large variety of meats. Yes, for those of you that enjoy vegetarian type pizzas they have those as well.
The real fun part of the buffet though is trying some of their more unusual options. These include ones you may have heard of including the buffalo chicken pizza (which is one of my favorites), BBQ Chicken pizza, a Mexican pizza which uses taco sauce as a base, Sicilian deep dish , and even one of the more unique ones I’ve seen in their macaroni and cheese pizza! Something I find nice about the buffet is if you don’t see the type of pizza you want you can just ask someone behind the buffet and they will make it for you. I’ve even had them make special pizzas for me with toppings that aren’t one of their sixteen standard varieties.
The desserts on the buffet are very simple, but are worth saving room for. They have an apple pie pizza which is very good with a pastry crust and apple topping. The dessert pizza is one similar to other chains with icing on crust. Their trademark dessert though are their cinnamon buns. These are fresh and soft, with nice sweet icing on top. Keep an eye out for them as they come out on the buffet though because they don’t last very long.
Most locations charge $4.99 for the buffet plus a couple dollars or so for unlimited refills on soda. This isn’t a bad price when you consider how much it would cost to buy enough of a variety of pizzas to match all your choices at the buffet for your friends or family. My only complaint would be how many unaccompanied children are at the buffet. Of course this is not Cici’s fault, but they could post more signs requiring children of certain ages and under to be supervised. Yes, I know pizza is a classic children’s food, but they still need help with removing the slices from the buffet so they don’t ruin an entire pizza getting their slice. Again though, this is a minor complaint because it’s more along the lines of a complaint about the parents as it is about the restaurant. In the end I’d strongly suggest going to a Cici’s near your town if you can find one. It’s reasonably priced and will satisfy everyone in your group.
