Police have filed charges in the case of a missing Georgia boy on Wednesday. Glynn police filed charges of “concealing the death of another person”. The charges are filed against the father and mother of a 32 year old sex offender, as well as a family friend of a suspect in the case, according to reports by Fox News.
Glynn County police have arrested the father of the prime suspect George Edenfield, who is a 32 year old sex offender. George Edenfield was taken into custody on an unrelated charge of parole violation. Parole prohibits contact with anyone under 18 years of age. Police stated that George Edenfield is a suspect the the investigation. Up until Wednesday, her was considered a “person of concern”.
Glynn County Police also arrested Donald Dale, who was described as an Edenfield family friend. George Edenfield’s mother, Peggy was also taken into custody.
Donald Dale and Peggy Edenfield were charged with obstruction of justice and making false statements. Police were investigating the disappearance of 6 year old Christopher Michael Barrios. Glynn County Police Captain Jim Nazzrie called them “people of interest”, according t Fox News reports.
David Edenfield, Peggy Edenfield and Donald Dale were all charged with “concealing the death of another person”. Fox News reports that police told Fox News that the charge stems from conflicting statements.
The prime suspect in the disappearance is George Edenfield, a 32 year old sex offender. He has been jailed since Friday, according t First Coast News.
The missing boy, Christopher Michael Barrios, who vanished last Thursday night, was last seen walking on a road near the homes of the father and grandmother. The homes of his father and grandmother are in mobile home park, just outside the port cit of Brunswick on the Georgia coast. Christopher lives with his father in the trailer park.
The parents of the missing boy have been ‘very cooperative” according to police. They have allowed police to search their home and to question them. Police say they don’t feel the family members are involved.
Edenfield is the father of a convicted sex offender, who is considered a suspect in the boy’s disappearance. George David Edenfield lives across the street from the missing boys grandmother. Reportedly he has told police that he played a role in the adduction of Christopher Michael Barrios.
David Edenfield and Donald Dale were charged after they lead police officers to a spot where they claimed that the missing boys’ body was buried, near the mobile home part. Associated Press reports that Captain Jim Nazzris said “They took them out to show them where the body was buried, but they could not locate the body. We don’t know whether they’re just telling crazy lies or if they know something.”
The 6 year old’s grandmother, Sue Rodriguez, said that police are doing a foot search of a field near th trailer park. the field is where Edenfield and his family claim to have buried the boy. Police used dogs to search the area earlier.
