Lately I have been in the midst of upgrading different aspects of my business. I have been working on my website, making newsletters and promotional items to hand-out, for exposure, and to get the word out.
To create all these things a number of things are important to have. Good strategy is needed to be able to visualize a concept or way to target your audience. A set goal to know where you are headed and to have some kind of idea of where you want to go. You need to have supplies to support the demands of your immediate goals and you need to be persistent & confident because time waits for no one.
My strategy was to be able to build the public awareness of my album “I Believe”, my band Hard Drive the Band, my Hand-Made Originalz business with which I create crocheted accessories like hats and scarfs, beaded jewelery and ornaments for weddings and bridal showers and my printing company which creates greeting cards, business cards, fliers, cd duplications and websites. I started by creating and designing fliers with the general information about my band, newsletters to give out to people on our mailing list, stickers, and I also created business cards, brochure, magnets, fliers for our upcoming events and stickers to add to our press kit. I wanted everything to have a professional touch to it so most of the products I created had a glossy finish to it because I think glossy has a more presentable appeal than matte.
As I continued to come up with different promotional items to add to our press kit, I decided that it was important that we have a logo because a logo seems a little bit more official. I started out by using WordPerfect which is pretty good because I have found ways to make WordPerfect work very well for me. I never thought about purchasing a program to enable me to create one until I came across a program at Staples that dealt with creating logos.
Summit Soft has created a program that easily creates logos and taglines called Logo Design Shop. With this program you can make a stronger stance and decision of who you are and what your look is supposed to be. Logo Design Shop was created for Windows ME/2000/XP and requires 60 MB of hard disc space. Once installed, I found this program to be a great help towards my immediate goals.
You can create logos with different backgrounds which they have set for you that you can customize or choose your own image to use. You can type in your text and customize your text with different font types like Helvetica, Drunken font or papyrus. You can update the size, color and gradients and even fill in your text with different images like blue sky or stones. Logo Design Shop gives you a number of different logos or taglines that you can use or update to your own standards. It features over 50 industry based logo templates, over 100 professional designed objects and art work. You can import artwork, clipart and photos and save the project as a jpeg so you can use it on other art projects like business cards, fliers or even your website.
I like this product because you get an affordable business tool for the fraction of the cost of what a professional business development corporation might charge. You can customize and update from an original design you create and always have it on hand to make changes as needed. I like this program because it is so simple and easy to use and navigate. You can create a logo in a matter of minutes without flinching or having stress.
On the left side of your screen is where you add your ingredients to make the perfect logo. There are logo templates for Art & Entertainment, Business & Finance, Children, Cleaning & Repair, Fitness, Food & Beverage, Health & Human Services, Interior Decorating & Design, Miscellaneous, Pets, Real Estate, Religious, Retail, Security, Sports & Leisure, Technology, Travel and Writing & Publishing. Underneath the logo templates are objects like alphabet art, base elements, flags, imported images, seals, signs & symbols, spheres, sports, swooshes and windows metafiles. Underneath the objects is where you add your text. You type in your text and you can design it to be a simple gradient text, a regular simple text, circular text, projective text, wavy text, outlined text, or memo text. Underneath the text are shapes and images like stars or a rhombus you can add if it suits your logo need. Underneath the shapes and objects is a number of different slogan and taglines that might be helpful or appropriate for your business. Some of the featured slogans or taglines are:
A cut above the rest
Confidence with a smile
Making Business Count
and We’ve got you covered.
Underneath the slogans and taglines is where you review a history of the logos you created and easily open it up without having to go to file, open and search. In the center of the Logo Design Shop is your work area where you view a sample of the logo you are creating and add and/or update it to your liking. Directly to the right of your work area is where you make your edits. Featured are tools like opacity where you can blend your text and/or image into the background, width and height to update the size of your image or text and font editor to update the font from what it is. You can rotate your font or image, add color and outlines, and add effects like embossing, shadow or frames.
I really like what I found in this program. It is easy and convenient. I love doing graphic production already and this program seemed really perfect for me. Now I can customize logos to add to my business card, fliers, website and use it to create t-shirts in the future. One other thing I forgot to mention about this program is that you can easily print from it. So if you want to add your logo to something immediately, printing it is not hard to do. Also you can either save your project as a lds extension which is the home extension for logo design studio or you can export your logo to the web, to print or to a document as a jpeg, bitmap or PDF file.
Logo Design Studio is a pretty impressive program for an affordable price. I would definitely recommend this program to any one seeking new tools to add to their business development needs.
