Delfino’s, which is split into two different restaurants (Delfino’s and Fino’s), is a legend in the dining world. On either floor of the building, you can order from both menus and sit wherever you wish. The Upstairs joint, Delfino’s, is much more of a pizzeria than it is an actual restaurant, however, their food presentation and atmosphere offsets the narrow food selection. Fino’s, which is downstairs, provides traditional Italian food along with the option of ordering from upstairs; and, if you’re spread thin on time, the entire menu, which includes all the meat and pasta dishes, is offered for takeaway.
When I went downstairs into the darker region of the facility, Fino’s, I noticed that the décor of place wasn’t what stood out, but instead, the charm and thick Spanish-Italian accents of the wait staff. The waiter who served my table had the patience of a saint and the demeanor of a stand-up comic. Every time he came by, he would make us laugh with a remark about Italian lifestyles.
With the recommendation of my waiter, I simply ordered a plate of ham and a ball of mozzarella, but with the right ingredients and the perfect quality, Italian diners don’t need anything else but that. I also had the carbonara, the sauce of which was spot-on with the rest of the meal and tasted spectacular.
Generally, my friends and I book a reservation beforehand, which is common if you’re dining with large groups of people. Fino’s is located in the heart of London, wherein; it makes it easy for a lot of the city workers to access the restaurant. Service there is consistently a class act and the wait staff always go out of their way to make us feel comfortable and invited.
Since the pizza up in Delfino’s is the main event when it comes to food, you absolutely must try it, even if you’re not a pizza fan. All of the ingredients are delivered from high quality vendors and the pizzas are baked in an authentic old school pizza oven. Good stuff! Also, if you’re into the atmosphere, you not only have a wonderful view of London, but a vibrant surrounding containing bright and homely decorations; and as the cherry on top, you get to see the pizza chef in action as he prepares your meal
If you’re not a big fan of the pizza, there are a wide variety of selections, including: salami, Gorgonzola, sausage, frutti di mare, calamari, mussels, prawns, and clams. All these healthy dishes are fit for a king, but if you’re a particularly picky king, you can opt to try one of the options from the grill menu and even the refreshing salad selection. Delfino’s is an absolute gem!
