It has been said that the subconscious mind releases hidden messages through our nightly dreams. What better way to track yours than with this fabulous celestial themed, dream journal?
For this craft you will need:
– A composition book, available at most office supply stores
– Dark blue colored cardstock
– Gold colored cardstock
– Shrink plastic
– Gold organdy ribbon
– Transparency film, blue colored
– Celestial themed rubber stamp
– Watermark Ink
– Gold embossing powder
– Heat embossing tool
– Yes® Glue, or any glue that will adhere and dry clear
– Word stamps
– Gold solvent ink
Start by cutting a two inch square of dark blue colored cardstock out. Coat the entire square in watermark ink, and coat thoroughly with the gold embossing powder. Using the heat embossing tool, heat set the ink powder immediately. Before the ink dries, press the rubber stamp in the center of the square. Hold for several seconds before removing and allowing to fully dry. Cut the shape out with scissors. Coat the backside of the shape in watermark ink, cover with the embossing ink, and heat set. Allow the shape to dry completely.
Next, cut a two inch by three inch, star shaped window in the center of the front cover of the composition book. Cut two three inch by four inch square window panes from the transparency film. Open the book, and adhere the transparency film so that it is covering the opening in the cover. When that has set, close the book and adhere the celestial embossed cutout to the transparency film. Cover the opening and celestial shape with the second piece of transparency film, so that the shape is “sandwiched” between the two pieces of film.
Cut equal lengths of the organdy ribbon. Adhere one inch of ribbon to both the front and back covers, letting the additional length hang off in order for the book to be tied closed when finished. Cut four pieces of the gold cardstock large enough to cover the front and back covers, leaving the binding of the book untouched. Adhere the cardstock to the outside back cover. Adhere the cardstock to the inside back cover, which will go over where the ribbon was attached and allow it to stick out underneath.
Adhere the gold cardstock to the inside of the front cover, which should lay over and hide the window opening. Cut out a two inch by three inch star shape in the last piece of gold cardstock, and attach to the front cover so that the star window shows through the cut out opening.
Cut out a three inch by four inch star from the gold colored cardstock. From the center of star, cut out a two inch by three inch star shape. Adhere the larger star over the transparency paper, turning in into matting for your window frame.
Using words stamps, print the following words on the shrink paper with the gold solvent ink:
Dreams Are The Key To The Soul
Following the manufacturers directions, heat the shrink paper to shrink. Adhere below the window on the front cover.
Voila! A beautiful and easy celestial themed journal to capture all of your dreams.
