New York City pizza has to be one of the most famous versions of America’s favorite food in the United States. The thin crust and fabulous toppings were a thing of my past, or so I believed when moving from the far east coast to the far west coast. My undying need for the perfect pizza was quenched, to my surprise, only one day after moving to Norwest Las Vegas, NV. That is when I found Mark Rich’s New York Pizza.
Everyone knows a pizza place can be made or broken by many aspects. The location, service, authenticity, aura and ownership are all as important as the pizza itself. Mark Rich’s New York Pizza has it all.
Located in the far Northwest section of Las Vegas, NV, nestled into a shopping center is the institution known as Mark Rich’s New York Pizza. Walking through the front door is like taking an instant trip to new York City. The open kitchen brings delight as you watch your chef toss pizza dough high into the air. The walls are filled with pictures of celebrities from all over the world thanking the owner, Mark Rich, for his fantastic pizza. The seating area is classic pizza shop and the feeling breeds excitement.
There are not enough positive things to say about the wait staff. You are greeted immediately upon entering as if you are a friend, not a patron (and if you are lucky, by Mark Rich himself). In the seat-yourself dining area, you are sure to find the perfect able. But, be sure to call ahead if bringing a large group, space is tight and the lunch crowd is a busy one.
The menu, WOW! The first time I went into mark Rich’s New York Pizza, I was forced to ask the waitress to explain some of the menu choices. Super long hot dogs loaded with mustard and onions, infinite varieties on pizza, calzones and traditional pizza all line the menu with style. With salads offered to begin your meal and desserts to relish after, you will be sure to find something you will love and want again and again.
With all the menu choices being made fresh to order, this restaurant is certainly not classified as a fast food joint. Speed is not important when you are ordering great food. The homemade flair also increases turn over time for patrons so if you want a seat at lunch be sure to get there early.
Prices are affordable and servings, huge. Lunch specials start at $4.75 for two large slices of cheese pizza, a salad and a drink and continue in the moderate price range. Whole pie prices are inevitably higher than the national chains, but there really is no comparison to quality. The superb ingredients and excellent taste win over the wallet any day.
So, the next time you are visiting Northwest Las Vegas, NV, and you get tired of all the mega buffets and fast food choices, take a ride to Mark Rich’s New York Pizza. The perfect east coast pizza served in the perfect west coast climate.
Pizza, Positively, Perfect!
