To make These Glittery Candle Votives for Christmas You Will Need:
1 Glass Light fixture
Tick Floral Wire or Christmas Ribbon
The first step if to find your light fixtures. I choose light fixture for this Christmas candle votive because they are inexpensive to buy and you may already have some laying around the house you can recycle into this glittery candle votive. If you do get stuck buying some, check out your local home improvement store or wall mart. They have great inexpensive clear glass light covers for about $2 a pop. They are perfect for this craft project.
The first step is to coat the inside of the clear glass light cover with the decoupage. Use a paint brush to do this.
Now start sprinkling in some of your glitter. Do not drop a massive handful in and hope it will spread doubt. It won’t. It will stick to the decoupage the minute they come in contact,
So, careful sprinkle the fine glitter in. I recommend going with a silver or gold glitter. You can choose your painting color you want, but the silver or gold glitter will only enhance your choice of paint color. If you wan though, you can buy glittering the same color as your paint.
Now, let the decoupage and glitter dry. This should only take about 30 minutes.
Now, take your paint and pour a little into the glass candle votive. Start swirling it around to coat the inside of the glass light cover.
Pour in more paint and swirl as needed.
Now, pour out any excess paint and let this dry. This may need to sit over night to insure all of the paint is dry.
Now, if you bought floral wire you can make a simple handle for the glittery candle votive. One of the other reasons to use a glass light cover is that they often have a lip on the rim to hold them in place on your ceiling light fixture. You can use this to wrap some floral wire around. Now, cut of a piece one make a handle. It should be about 8 inches long. Lop each end through the floral wire wrapped around the rim.
If you went with Christmas ribbon than you can simply tie it around that rim of the clear glass light cover. Finish it off in a bow and trim the ends of the Christmas ribbon at an angle.
Now, slip a small tea candle down in the Christmas candle votive and light it!
