Easy Kids Easter Crafts

by sumo nova

Easter is right around the corner. That means eggs, bunnies and baskets. What better way to get your child excited about the season than by using common household items to create his or her own personalized Easter crafts?

Soda Bottle Easter Baskets
What you will need:

One two-liter soda bottle
Scissors
Paint
Easter pictures from magazines
Glue

From the bottom of the bottle, measure up five inches. Cut the bottom five inches of the bottle off. Cut two one inch strips from the top of the bottle to use as handles. Decorate the basket with magazine photos and paints. Glue bottle strips to the basket.

Paper Egg Collage
What you will need:

Construction paper scraps
Glue
Heavy paper or poster board
Scissors

Cut heavy paper or poster board into egg shapes. Cover egg with glue and arrange construction paper scraps on the egg. You can add glitter, beads or ribbons for more pizazz!

Craft Stick Cross Magnet:
What you will need:

One long craft stick
One shorter craft stick
Two craft magnets
Glue
Small silk flowers, paint, beads or glitter.

Glue the smaller craft stick across the top third of the longer craft tick to form a cross. Glue the craft magnets to the back of the cross. Use flowers, paint, beads and glitter to decorate the cross.

Easter “Snow Globe”
What you will need:

One clean jar and lid
Small easter figurine (available at dollar stores)
Glue
Glitter
Cold water

Glue the figurine to the inside of the jar lid and allow to dry. Fill jar ¾ full of clean cold water. Add one teaspoon of glitter. Seal jar with lid. You can add ribbons and paint to decorate your globe! If you are using this project for preschool children, plastic peanut butter jars work great and won’t break if little hands drop them!

Soup Can Bunnies
What you will need:

One clean soup can- remove the label and save for a template!
White, and pink felt
Googly eyes
Small black pom-pom
White pipe cleaner
Scissors
Glue

Using the label from the soup can as your guide, trim white felt to cover the soup can. Glue to the can. From the white felt scraps, cut two large ear-shaped pieces. Trim the pink felt in the same shape, but smaller to make the insides of the bunny ears. Glue the pink felt to the white ears. And attach to the back of the can. Glue on the googly eyes. Cut the white pipe cleaner in half and bend each piece into a “V” shape. Attach to the can for whiskers and cover with black pom-pom for the nose. This works great as a pencil cup!
