A benefit for ALS featuring a reception and silent and live auctions is celebrating 20 years.
The MD/ALS Center of Dallas (TX) at UT Southwestern has raised more than $1.6 million to fight the cruel and devastating illness since 1997.
This year’s fundraiser is being held at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 22nd at the Dallas Country Club, 4100 Beverly Drive (972-480-0070).

From Feb. 16th through March 27th draw the line between reality and illusion when Dallas-based collectors Karol Howard and George Morton guest curate this exhibit of Asian contemporary art showcasing the works of local artist Kana Harada. She traveled with two collectors to Japan last spring. The exhibit, aptly titled “Between Reality and Illusion,” also features pieces from Michael Kon, Li Yonbin, Liu Ren, Lui Ding, Shintaro Sato, Hiroyuki Doi, and University of North Texas graduate Xiaoze Xie. On Feb. 22nd Planned Parenthood of North Texas will host their Annual Awards Luncheon to honor those who have worked to maintain women’s health and reproductive freedom. This year’s keynote speaker is David Gergen, a CNN contributor and professor of Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Junior Symphony Ball hosted by the Dallas Symphony is described as a very dignified event exclusively for local high school students. The fundraiser’s purpose is to raise money for Special Students at the Symphony. The event is Feb. 24th from 8 p.m. to midnight at Eddie Deen’s Ranch, 944 S. Lamar Street in Dallas. On the same day check out “Limb-A-Go-Go” is a 1970s theme fundraiser of miniskirts and leisure suits featuring dinner and dancing as well as live and silent auctions. Proceeds benefit the Limbs of Life Foundation which helps raise money for amputees to receive prosthetics. The event starts at 6 p.m. at Dallas Trade Mart, 2100 Stemmons Freeway.
