Daily occurrences in our lives cause negative feelings and make us doubt ourselves. There are several ways you can chase the doubt away, restore your self esteem, and boost the confidence you have in yourself.
Here are a few quick exercises to bring about an instant confident boost and leaving you feeling charged at the end of the day.
Don’t Be Shy: We were all taught it was not polite to brag so naturally we brush off the praise that we do get for the small accomplishments that we make. On days you need a quick confidence boost acknowledge an accomplishment you have made lately and include others. No need to be a huge brag and get obnoxious but a little bragging never hurts anyone. Just let it be known how proud you were to achieve what you did and that you felt you had to include those you love or work with in your joy. You will be smiling and feel great in minutes.
Give Yourself Some Me Time: Be nice to yourself and schedule some alone time. Your time alone can be as short or as long a period as you feel you need to recharge and reevaluate some of your goals that just do not seem to be happening. Rather than just locking yourself in your bedroom try having some active alone time, go to lunch alone somewhere that you have been dying to try or try a new activity that you have been thinking about. Whatever you decide to do make sure you can focus on you long enough to feel refreshed before you let the outside world back in.
Grow A Backbone: How many days does something happen to you but you are just to shy or afraid of speaking up? Most of the time you will gloss over the incident like it was no big deal or let it get to you and ruin your mood for the rest of the day. Instead of ignoring it acknowledge your feeling and voice them, if someone wrongs you let them know they have and that you did not appreciate it. There is no need to be aggressive and shout; the best way to reach a positive outcome and boost your confidence is to politely inform whomever you are addressing and ask them not to do it again. You will most likely get results and you will feel better for having stood up for yourself. Try it.
Let Others See Your Confidence: Even if you are not feeling confident yet you can fake it and end up feeling confident. The way you appear to yourself is how you are going to appear to others so make sure you present a self assured confident you. Try smiling and initiate a conversation with those around you when you normally wouldn’t. Start in the Starbuck’s line before going into work, casually smile and say good morning to those you make eye contact with and nine times out of ten you will get a smile in return as well as a well wish for the day. Repeat this throughout the day and you will be surprised how quickly it can lift your mood.
Try these exercises and have a great day.
