If you’ve read 10 Ideas for Group Halloween Costumes or Group Halloween Costume Ideas, you must be in the market for creative costumes that your group of friends or co-workers can wear on Halloween.
Following are a couple of funny group Halloween costume ideas for you to consider. Both of these group Halloween costume ideas center around a common theme, but they allow for flexibility and creativity with each individual’s costume.
Trailer Park Trash
This is one of the more easy-to-do group Halloween costume ideas because you can probably scrounge around your house and find items that you can use. If not, a trip to your local Goodwill or Salvation Army will yield all you need, except for maybe a mullet wig.
And a mullet wig is key. If you can’t find a wig that’s already business up front and party in the back, you can always take a “rocker” wig, which they sell everywhere around Halloween, and give it a little chop with the scissors in the front. Presto! Instant mullet.
Then, it’s up to each person in your group to personalize their costumes (or create their characters) to become bona fide residents of your little trailer park. One person could be a pregnant teenaged mother (use a pillow for the belly) with a toddler hanging onto her leg (use a doll). Another could be a guy in tight jeans and a flannel shirt with the sleeves ripped off. Don’t forget the Skoal can in the back pocket. Another could have a big, cheesy mustache, short shorts and knee socks pulled all the way up with a heavy metal T-shirt.
And, of course, you must have a big mama in Spandex. If you don’t have your own cellulite, you can create the illusion of cottage-cheese thighs under your Spandex by filling plastic grocery bags with packing peanuts and putting them in your snug-fitting pants. One thing I don’t recommend (from experience) is trying to create the illusion of saggy breasts by putting grapefruits in the feet of a pair of pantyhose and wearing them around your neck. That will just result in a neck so strained that you’ll need acupuncture followed by muscle relaxants. Trust me, it’s not a good idea.
You can take this gem of group Halloween costume ideas as far as you want. If you’re doing this at work, you can decorate your office area with all the trailer-park trimmings: foil-covered windows, strung-up Christmas lights, empty Natural Light or Pabst Blue Ribbon beer cans lying around, etc. And if you have the chance to put on a demonstration, you can always do your own version of “The Jerry Springer Show” for your audience. Be sure to throw some chairs and muss some hair for authenticity.
Circus Sideshow Freaks
Of these two group Halloween costume ideas, this one is a bit tamer. It probably won’t offend anyone who actually lives in a trailer, but it might hurt the feelings of women with facial hair or people with tails. You can’t please everyone.
One person can be the bearded lady. All you need to pull off this costume is a big muumuu dress in a bright print, a pillow for a belly and some fake facial hair to stick on.
Another person can be half-man, half-woman by cutting a pair of man’s pants and a shirt in half and sewing it to half of a woman’s dress. This is funnier if the person who wears this costume is a man. And be sure to use plenty of bright red lipstick on this she-man’s feminine side. A mustache on the manly side of its face is a nice addition, too.
A freakishly muscular strong man can be a fun character. This costume takes a bit more work, but it can be very funny. Find a flesh-colored bodysuit and cover the strong man’s private areas with a little outfit made from fake fur. A bald cap, a handlebar mustache and a hoop earring are nice touches. Don’t forget to stuff the bodysuit with fiberfill to create the strong man’s bulging muscles, and make him some “weights” out of empty cardboard boxes that are painted black.
Another circus sideshow freak costume idea is a fortuneteller with a third eye. (You can find fake eyeballs with sticky backs everywhere around Halloween.) Your fortuneteller can wear a shirt with puffy sleeves, a vest and a peasant skirt. If you don’t have a crystal ball, she can gaze into a Magic 8 ball.
You never know, maybe the fortuneteller will predict that yours is among the best group Halloween costume ideas this Halloween. Good luck!
