Guide to Celebrating the Holidays in Taylor, Michigan

by sumonova

Taylor is a fairly large city. We always go out big for every holiday. Weather your young, old or in between. There is something for everyone to do almost the whole month of December for Christmas. Most events in Taylor are fairly cheep and even free. As you drive through the city of Taylor, Take a look at all the decoration. All the poles have lights and decoration on them. Taylor is really set up nice for Christmas. Often the restaurants and stores have special Holiday food for a special price.

Heritage Park Petting Farm is the first place you will want to stop at. Current rates are $2 for Taylor residents, $3 for non-residents. The petting farm has knowledgeable staff on hand to assist and make your visit the very best. Children can interact with the animals by petting and even getting in the stalls of some animals. In December They have 2 special events. First event is Decorate The farm. Every child who brings a canned good to donate to Gleaners food bank will be able to make crafts to decorate the trees all around the farm. Children love doing this. The second Event is by far the best. My children love this, and it will continue to be a holiday tradition for us each year. Meet Santa’s Reindeer. This is concered the biggest event of the year. Here your children can get a different Picture to take home besides the traditional picture with Santa. This time they will get there Picture taken with Santa’s Reindeer. After that they can go through and see all the regular animals like Sonora the cow who likes to give kisses. Enjoy light refreshments and some craft making. They will also be selling numerous stocking stuffer. Proceeds go toward the farm and the animals.

Santa’s magical Forest. Always a great treat for Christmas. In the inside you will be able to enjoy Santa’s workshop. All his animated elves are set up and they are working hard at making toys. Santa’s reindeer are laying around the whole building. At the end there is Santa and Ms. Clause. They hand out candy canes and you can get your picture taken. My children love coming here every year. They loving touching the fake snow, Watching the children sleep as they await for Santa. Their favorite has to be the chipmunk who peaks out of the tree.

Breakfast with Santa at Taylor Meadows. Christmas has never been this good. Breakfast with Santa has to be one of the best. This is way better then the traditional wait in line to see Santa, only to be rushed off. Your children and you Sit down at a table with Santa and Mrs. Claus and talk to them. They get to tell them all the things they want for Christmas. Santa will ask them all kinds of cute questions in order to get the children to open up a little better. Families are welcome to use their won cameras or photos are available for an additional charge. I would highly recommend bringing your own camera. Talking pictures with Santa at a breakfast table will hold so many more memories then sitting on his lap.

Southland Mall- Santa is also available for picture taking at Southland mall. The pictures here are a bit different. Santa and your child will pose for a picture package. These packages are similar to school picture packages. Buy enough to pass around to your family and friends. The children also sit on Santa and tell him all their wishes. Candy canes are handed out after the pictures.

The Nutcracker- A new tradition for Taylor. The Ballet of America of Taylor and The Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra combine their talents for this awsome show. The city of Taylor is becoming known as the art center of Downriver and Southeastern Michigan. This is going to be a great new tradition for us. Seating will be limited and you will have to buy tickets for this event. If all goes good this year, They will be returning next year.
