This is a response to Who’s your teacher? The National Rifle Association by Katie Raymond. Which in turn was a response to Teachers Get Your Guns by Beck Gallop. First I have to say I am not in support of teachers carrying guns. Armed security guards or police in schools yes. But Katie Raymond was way over the top in the reply.
First Sylvester Stallone is anti gun. On an internet search to check, I found that the NRA has him on their bad list. He is listed on a Fact Sheet at www.mcknet.com which lists gun control people and organizations. He is also in a gun control hall of located at http://vikingphoenix.com. Tupac is deader than hell. Tom Selleck and Charlton Heston are indeed in the NRA. I couldn’t find anything on Segal one way or the other.
Everyone wants to blame all the school shootings on guns. I have yet to see a gun jump up and shoot anybody all by it’s self. A gun is a tool just like a screwdriver. People hit each other with cars but nobody blames the car.
The parents that allowed kids to have access to guns should be in prison. I’m pro gun not pro moron. It’s indefensible to let a kid have access to guns. I have taken my kids target shooting. But only after a 30 minute lecture on gun safety. And I don’t leave guns where kids can get them. It’s too easy to get gun safes and trigger locks and use them.
Accidental shootings in the home involving do happen but if it was common it would be on the news every 5 minutes because the liberal media slobbers at the mouth at a chance to put down gun owners. That goes back to gun safety and properly storing firearms and ammunition.
Kids can learn gun safety http://www.nrahq.org/safety/index.asp from the hated NRA itself. There are also numerous local gun clubs around the nation that teach gun safety. It’s just stupid to have guns and not take safety classes. I am in support of gun safety being taught in school. Even if there are no guns at the student’s house, if he or she goes to a friend’s house that DOES have guns, they wouldn’t be playing with one and kill somebody.
Gun control is not the answer to the problems in America. Education is the key. Kids should have better education and so should teachers. Kids and teachers should be taught the signs that kids in emotional trouble show. They don’t go from a normal kid to a killer in a day. Once the teacher spots a potential bad situation with a child, it should be acted on to get them some help. The kids would probably spot any trouble before a teacher, due to knowing the students better. Kids should also be taught not to torment other students because they are different. Being picked on has been the start of more than one homicidal rampage.
And don’t come down on the NRA for spending money come election time, anti gun groups do as well. Lots of Hollywood’s elite raise money for anti gun groups. And it is not illegal to spend money that is what special interest groups do. But it’s ok for the liberals to spend whatever they want to. Just not the NRA.
I need to point out that I am not in the NRA. I used to be and dropped out because I didn’t like some of their propaganda. But I think I will rejoin if my money can help fight the liberal gun control crowd. I am a former gun dealer and am a hunter and target shooter.
That being said I am not against all gun laws. I have no problem with mandatory waiting periods. I would have no problem with the age to buy any gun was 21. At least in my state an 18 year old can buy a rifle or shotgun. I am much more afraid of somebody with a rifle than a handgun. I would have no problem with a mandatory gun safety class before being allowed to purchase a gun. To me this would be reasonable and I think to most gun owners it would be as well. But to the gun control people reason is often left out of arguments.
