You’re getting ready for that big night. Your dress, shoes, handbag, and jewelery are all perfect. The only thing left is to fix your hair. Why is it that tonight your hair decides to grow a mind of it’s own? Here are some tips on how to fix many kinds of hair mishaps.
Problem: You usually straighten your wavy hair but today it is only getting frizzier.
Solution: Stop! The heat is only making it worse. Start by wetting your hair and applying an anti-frizz product. Then, wait until your hair is almost dry before applying heat. Finish the style with a flat iron and tame that frizz!
Problem: Your hair looks oily and you have no time to wash it before the big night.
Solution: Apply a very small amount of talcum powder to the roots of your hair. Use caution, you don’t want everyone to think you had a fight with the baby before you left the house.
Problem: Your hair is straight and is extra limp these days.
Solution: Use a deep-cleaning shampoo to prevent build-up. The flatness may be caused by all the extra chemicals.
Problem: Your hair looks dull and dry especially during the winter months.
Solution: Don’t forget your shine enhancing products!
Problem: Your hair is very limp
Solution: Rinse again, you probably used to much conditioner.
Problem: You take your hat off and have static hair.
Solution: Run a fabric softener sheet on your hair. Next time spray ant-static product inside the hat before you put it on.
Problem: You take your hat off and have hat hair.
Solution: Use mousse to style your hair. After you take your hat off massage your scalp with damp fingers. This will re-activate the mousse and bring back some volume.
Problem: Your long, thick, curly hair is unruly today.
Solution: Put on a headband. This accessory will give you a polished look as well as tame your hair.
Now for the more difficult problems!
Problem: Bad Haircut.
Solution: Do not try and fix it yourself. Return to the salon, many salons offer to re-cut it for free.
Problem: Bad Dye Job
Solution: If hair is under-colored because you rinsed too soon, reapply dye and leave on for time required minus initial time. If hair is the wrong color or over-colored consider using a removal product that are available at most salon or beauty supply stores. Hair-coloring can be a very damaging process to your hair so consider letting a professional fix it.
Problem: Bad Perm
Solution: If your home perm did not take, wait three days then visit a stylist to perm it for you. If the perm is overdone, apply a deep conditioner to hair. Leave the conditioner on for 15 minutes then rinse and set in large colors. If that does not help, visit a professional and have your hair relaxed.
Problem: Chlorine-Green Hair
Solution: Many drugstores and salons sell products specially formulated to remove the green from your hair. When swimming, apply leave-in conditioner and try a swim cap. Immediately after swimming shampoo and rinse your hair.
Solution: Try an over the counter shampoo like Head and Shoulders or Pert Plus. If these don’t help consult a dermatologist.
Problem: Gum in Hair
Solution: Rub peanut butter around the gum and into the hair. Be patient as this can take along time but the oils counter the gum’s stickiness.
There are many ways to fix a bad hair day. My favorites include a cute hat or scarf and a nice up-do. Find something that works for you as we are all doomed to face back hair days.
