Fish tanks are something that I enjoy and a tour of the house will surely show you this quite quickly. On average I believe I have at least 5 tanks somewhere through out the house and still buying more tanks, but don’t have them set up as of yet.
I just came home with my new prize of a fish, a Betta. It was rainbow colored and I slapped it into a bowl. I left the room and came back to discover it was flopping helplessly all over the floor. So I scooped it up and found a tank with a cover upon it and plopped it in. A jumper? I thought to myself. It was late so I went ahead an went to bed.
Harmony, the cat was close behind my heels. She wanted to know what I had gotten her at the store, possibly. I hadn’t thought of her, honestly I had wanted a fish and didn’t think to bring any special treats this time to the other pets.
By morning, I understood that when I return from the store I had better start bringing home something special for everyone or bring no one else home. My pillow was laying in the middle of the floor with stuffing fluffed all over the room. A glare was issued by Harmony as if the mess were my fault, indeed, and not the proper culprit. Coco had drug out all the cans from the kitchen cupboard and her cupboard accomplice had eaten all the chips in the upper shelves. The cookie jar was empty, stove’s knob was missing, and the Oscar had demolished his tank completely, leaving all the decoration now floating to the top of the water.
The Betta was missing. I search around the tank, nothing. The lid was still on, no signs of anything around the tank. With a grumble I decided I’d get a new one after work. Also something for the rest of the bunch who gave me messages.
This time at the store I remembered that the one tank badly needed an algae fish and I watched the guy chase the thing down with the fish net, I thought to myself, “How will I ever catch it if I have to clean the tank?” I dismissed my question and went ahead and made the purchase.
The next morning again the new fish are gone. One of the other tanks is completely empty, with in fact a few floaters. Was something wrong with the water I wondered? I scooped up some water in a small jar and took it to the pet store for testing. To find nothing was wrong with the water. So in turn I bought new fish to replace the missing fish.
It was that night that I ventured to the refrigerator for a mindnight snack to find the truth of the missing fish. There was Harmony fishing with the hard to catch algae eater in her mouth. My mouth hung open as she batted the lid closed with her paw.
Now, I buy fish flavored cat food, I find it cheaper.
