When you’re ready to zoom ahead in line on you trip to Disney, you’ll receive more than glances of envy from fellow Disney travelers. Disney’s FastPass program is the most efficient way to enjoy the theme parks when time is of the essence. With hundreds of rides and attractions throughout the resort and theme park, it can be hard to develop a strategy that makes the most of your day. If you need a reason to blast through Disney parks in record time, here’s how the Disney Fast Pass can work for you.
As soon as you get the FastPass, you can visit any attraction that displays the FastPass booth and ‘check-in’. From Splash Mountain in the Magic Kingdom, to the Start Tours at Disney-MGM Studios, you can snag a spot just by swiping your FastPass into the machine. This generates a ticket for you to use when your wait time is over; track down a Cast Member at your appointed time, and you’ll be let in immediately. At the most, you’ll be waiting between 10-20 minutes for a particular ride. If an attraction is ‘experiencing technical problems,’ it might be a little longer, but you will still get to jump ahead. Standard wait times without a FastPass can range between two, even three hours.
Here are some tips to make the most of your Disney FastPass:
Always look at the return time before you get the FastPass so you can plan ahead
If you’re going around the park getting multiple passes, be sure to note down some sort of strategy. Getting ‘FastPass crazy’ might lead to some missed rides and attractions. Still, Disney requires a minimum of two hours until your next return time is allowed, so plan accordingly
Take a quick look at the normal stand-by line; sometimes this is shorter, especially during lighter times during the day where you won’t even need a FastPass
Don’t forget that you can go through a ride a second time if there is a short wait and you already ‘booked’ your FastPass slot
Remember you don’t have to use the FastPass if you change your mind. Consider it a backup strategy
You can still wait in the normal line at any time
Keep in mind that you have a 1-hour window to use it. If you’re in the vicinity of your ride or attraction, enjoy a snack, relax, or play on an arcade!
Don’t discard that ticket; even though the Cast Member will check it as you enter, they will check it again when you board the actual ride. Be sure to keep it on you as you get through.
Get your FastPasses all at once to save time. Collect up everything you need and you’ll easily organize your day more efficiently
As you explore the world of Disney, make the best use of your time by planning ahead. A simple itinerary will help you through each of the key attractions, and you can save even more time by consolidating your rides in each area-avoid trekking across the park to multiple sites throughout the day!
