Hi, my name is Tina and I’m a product tester who just last month completed two $20 tests, a $75 pet product test, and five $10 market research tests. Of those product tests, not only did I get the cash incentive, I got to keep the product I was testing. In addition to even all that, I was able to have reviews written for upcoming Associated Content product articles. At only $5 a product review article that is still over $205 worth of cash incentives in a month. Last year I was sent about four times the number of product tests I was actually able to do and companies send me about one to two emails a week to test products for them. I’m not even signed up with many of the companies that do product testing in general demographic test markets. This is a ripe way for people to help give back to companies and get a nice perk on the side. These product tests swear you to secrecy about the actual product that you test, but after payment and the surveys are done, you aren’t restricted about writing a review about the product.
When you agree to do a product test, inspect everything that comes to you in the parcel. Make sure that you got the product, the survey, and the list of instructions. Some require the use of a journal or diary, some just email you a brief survey at the end of the test period. I’ve tested everything from mouthwash to bras, pet food for my pets, and lawn maintenance equipment. I’ve had 50cent granola bars to keep, to over $300 of pet fencing. All free for just a few minutes of my time a day. Make sure that you follow the instructions carefully and mark in a notebook the date that you receive the parcel, and track your testing of it. Most product tests pay in cash, check, or gift certificate, and you will know precisely what you are testing and how much you will be compensated before you agree to do it.
If you would like to go to some of these product test market companies and see if it works for you, keep track of what companies you sign up for. This way you can see what companies are more receptive (i.e. give you the most products to test) and which ones don’t.
A small list of companies to try:
http://centercode.com/ I have tested many things for this company
Other companies can be found by googling “product test” or “market research”. There are many freebie lists that keep track of who is sending out what, even though this is very frowned upon by the market research company and professional product testers. For a really good freebie forum, try http://www.slickdeals.net. SD is a great place to find product test product companies, as well as other helpful income supplements.
