Sugar-free gelatin snacks are an excellent way to satisfy hunger cravings without consuming excessive calories or gaining weight. Both the Jell-O Sugar Free Low Calorie Gelatin Dessert and the Winky Sugar Free Gelatin Dessert are ultra-low-calorie foods that anybody can afford to eat with impunity; they have only ten calories apiece, and one would have to eat fifty individual containers to consume the equivalent of a 500-calorie meal!
I have extensively purchased both Jell-O and Winky sugar-free desserts; each of them has its particular advantages. The Jell-O desserts come in a wide variety of unique flavors, including peach, watermelon, black cherry, and raspberry. Their taste is wonderful, and they are not all too expensive-at a little over $4 per 12-pack in most Wal-Marts and grocery stores. However, in terms of price, Winky has Jell-O beat. The Winky desserts sell at about $2.60 per 12-pack; the portion sizes and caloric content of each kind of dessert are identical, so Winky desserts are far less expensive for a consumer to buy.
Winky Sugar Free Gelatin Desserts have their limitations, however. They only come in three flavors: strawberry-banana, mandarin orange, and lime. These are good flavors, and I enjoy them thoroughly; Jell-O desserts with the same flavors do not taste any better. But customers seeking to consume a wider variety of gelatin snacks will not find it if they solely purchase Winky products. Winky makes other flavors of desserts, too, such as lemon and blueberry; but Winky only uses these flavors in its 90-calorie “regular” desserts, which cannot be eaten as guiltlessly as the sugar-free snacks. Jell-O, on the other hand, has at least thrice as many sugar-free dessert flavors as Winky; all Jell-O desserts are more expensive, but the greatly increased variety may be worth it to some.
Furthermore, I have not been able to find Winky-brand desserts at any store other than Wal-Mart, whereas Jell-O Sugar Free Low Calorie Gelatin Desserts can be found universally, in virtually any grocery store. Lack of availability is not a real issue for the Winky brand, since there are ample Wal-Marts everywhere in the United States, but only Wal-Mart shoppers will ever come into contact with this brand. If you are not a regular Wal-Mart customer, but the significant savings on Winky Sugar Free Gelatin Desserts appeal to you, then you might want to journey to the local Wal-Mart just to get these snacks. Otherwise, Jell-O will provide you with similar-quality snacks, though at higher prices and with a greater variety of flavors. Some other store chains, such as Kroger, also have store-brand sugar-free gelatin snacks which are virtually identical to the Winky snacks; these stores will virtually always charge far lower prices than Jell-O for their own brand of snacks.
Jell-O and Winky-brand sugar free gelatin desserts stand out from the rest in that they are ready to eat, right out of the package. A much larger assortment of sugar-free gelatin snacks is available in powder form, but they need to be mixed with water, stirred, and refrigerated for many hours before they can be eaten. Jell-O and Winky snacks can be consumed with no preparation, at one’s convenience. They need to be refrigerated to last a long time, but they do not melt immediately in room-temperature environments. I have found it quite feasible to pack each kind of snack in a backpack or plastic bag, take it with me out of the house, and eat it several hours later without noticing any detriment to its quality. The snack packages are made of durable plastic and will not break under normal conditions.
Great enjoyment at no cost to one’s health can be obtained from both the Jell-O Sugar Free Low Calorie Gelatin Dessert and the Winky Sugar Free Gelatin Dessert; these wonderful, compact, inexpensive snacks can make it possible for many to eat responsibly and in good taste.
