Across the street from the beautiful Acacia Park, Jose Muldoons is easily the best Mexican food in town. This favorite cantina was named after the legendary but fictional bandit, Jose Muldoon. Muldoons is also the proud owner of the “World’s Record for the Largest Margarita”. Everything about this restaurant says hospitality, atmosphere and of course great food.
Built on a foundation of burritos, fajitas, enchiladas, chili rellenos and other traditional Mexican fare, Jose’s continues to update and expand it’s menu.
With appetizers like stuffed quesadilla,(my personal favorite) and mesquitos, they are sure to wow a variety of tastes. Because not everyone likes the robust appetizers, Jose also provides fresh vegetables with dip and buffalo wings. One of my favorite salads at this wonderful restaurant, is their Grill Chicken Mango Salad. Grilled chicken breast and generous chunks of fresh mango are combined with avocado, radish, tomato, red onion and toasted pumpkin seeds, all served over crisp romaine lettuce and drenched with a sturdy honey chipotle dressing. Yum.
Along with the obviously scrumptious food, Jose Muldoon’s offers an atmosphere second to none. With their garage door front and front sidewalk patio, you are instantly attracted to this authentic restaurant. Any section of the restaurant is interesting and nice to eat in, but the umbrella lined back patio offers a chance to experience the breathtaking views of Colorado Springs. The patio sections and the bar are extremely popular gathering places at Muldoons. The decor at this restaurant is eye-catching. No matter where you sit, you can spend the brief wait time, and see stuff you won’t see anywhere else.
While there, don’t forget to try one of Muldoon’s famous margaritas. There are six house specialty margaritas, or if you want to, you can make up your own version of one. They have over 50 different tequila’s in stock. My families favorite time to go to Muldoons is Sunday morning. They have the most wonderful brunches on Sunday. They are open from 9:30 till 3:00 pm. You can pick from some spicy Mexican egg dishes, or if a more traditional breakfast is what you had in mind, they do that too.
For the party crowd, you might want to check out Muldoons on Friday and Saturday nights. More than likely, they will have a local band playing. Dancing is encouraged. Muldoons is open until 1:00 am. Bring your dancing shoes.
It doesn’t matter when you go to Muldoons, they always have great food and great customer service. I don’t think our family will go to any other Mexican restaurant in Colorado Springs. We have tried quite a few. We keep coming back to Muldoons.
When you are in Colorado Springs, get off of the freeway and head to downtown. Muldoon’s is easy to find. Just follow the signs to downtown and watch for the big park. You can’t miss it from there. Check out the address and info below, then check out Muldoons. It is a great place for the family to gather. There is something for everyone no matter the age.

Call ahead for reservations during peak hours. No wait. They also do company parties and private parties. I recommend it.
