There are some people who are naturally gifted with the fairer sex and dating with our friend Ted being one who was more than fairly successful with them. Ted never had any problems with getting dates on any day of the week. With being 5’10” and well built with the perfect V torso and abs of steel, Ted could have any pick of the women at his business office and more so. This lead to his nickname “Lady Killer”. The problem with Ted didn’t lie in his looks or his brains for that matter. But what got Ted into trouble this time was his cocky attitude he developed towards the opposite sex. “I can get any woman I want and just about any woman would kill to get me as her man”, was Ted’s mantra that we normal men had to listen to on a day to day basis as well as Ted’s exploits in and out of the bedroom
And so this went on day in and day out for what seemed like an eternity. Then one day, on Valentines’ Day to be exact, a woman walked into the office who turned just about every male eye in the place with Ted being no exception. Monique was her name and beautiful rich was her game; being widowed from a multimillionaire she needed to do some investing. Our friend Ted just about clobbered every executive to get to Monique. Monique was polite but requested someone else to handle her affairs. She didn’t say why but she gave the impression she was uncomfortable with Ted.
Ted ,being the competitive man that he was , didn’t like to take no for an answer, but after Monique insisted that another investor handle her investment account he let another executive handle her business transaction.
When Monique was ready to leave Ted all but begged Monique for a date. Ted really didn’t like to take “no” for an answer and his pride was really at stake with being shot down at work for a business deal and a date with everyone in sight watching. “C’mon honey, just dinner or movie. I’m not all that bad.”
“I know you’re not all that bad”, was Monique’s response, “It’s just that you remind me of my dead husband Kent, and although it’s been more than a year since his untimely death I still don’t know if I’m ready to move on yet.”
Ted, never to be known for his sensitivity, went in for the kill. “Honey, I understand your pain, but Kent wouldn’t want you to go on like this would he? And especially on Valentine’s Day.”
“Maybe you’re right. It was his favorite holiday and it still is mine to be honest,” came Monique’s response. That surprised everyone in the office as well as Ted judging by the look on his face.
“How about dinner tonight then. I’ll pick you up at 7:00 sharp.”
After Monique agreed to dinner and gave Ted that address and phone number, the day went on as usual; well as usual as it could be with Ted saying his mantra: “I can get any woman I want and any woman would kill to get me as her man”
Ted picked up Monique for their date with a dozen roses in tow and proceeded to take Monique to the most expensive restaurant in town. The date proceeded wonderfully without any problems; until that is when Monique asked Ted in for a nightcap with Ted giving her the approving nod of a man about to make his greatest conquest.
“I really thought you didn’t like me” Ted said as he was sipping on the cognac given him while sitting in a high back leather chair thinking to himself, ‘I could get used to this’.
“I really don’t like you Ted” was Monique’s reply. As Ted had a puzzled look on his face, Monique continued, “I don’t like you or your kind.”
“What kind is that?” asked Ted in a tone that was inquisitive yet bordering on resentment at the same time.
“Oh the kind of man that just because he is good looking he thinks he can get any woman he wants.” As Ted started to protest, Monique continued, “I just bet you thought you could get me into bed tonight and on the first date at that! You must really think that you’re all that and more Mr. Lady-killer.” At that remark Ted stood up to leave but had to sit back down; his head was woozy as well as his vision starting to double.
“I think you’re beginning to feel the effects of my special little surprise I put into your drink” Monique said with an evil smirk on her face. “You see you really do remind me of my poor dead husband more than even you realize.” Ted would have responded but he was too busy drooling at trying to breathe to speak.
“You see Ted, my poor deluded husband had the same attitude that you did; that he was so handsome and smooth that he could get any woman he wanted. Well he did get every woman he wanted and the woman he wanted most was me. And he got me! And oh how treated me so wrong after our wedding. So wrong I was determined to never let myself be treated like that again so I had to take measures into my own hands and stop that lady-killer from ever doing that to me or any woman again. Which is why I can’t let you live either my pet. Happy Valentines Day”
Ted was too busy looking glassy-eyed with his heart stopping from the neurotoxin poison Monique placed in his drink to protest the accusations against him and in the end realizing that this particular woman did kill to have him as her man.
It was all over the office as well as the evening news that a big investment executive died suddenly of a heart attack while having an evening date with a beautiful woman. When asked to comment on the condition that killed her date as well as her late husband, Monique simply stated with a gleam in her eye, “I just hope all my Valentine’s Days don’t end up this this.
CERTAINLY NOT THE END
