I have been asked by my publisher this month to come up with the best places to propose and when I think about it, the possibilities are endless. There are women that love sports, so you may want to propose to them at a sports event or perhaps that special woman in your life loves romantic dinners, then the way to go for her, is to plan a dinner at a restaurant that is known for their romantic atmosphere.
The key to finding the ideal place in which to propose is as unique as the person you are considering making your wife. As I contemplate this subject it reminds me of a friend of mine who was proposed to at a concert. The “incident” as I refer to it today, took place about 5 years ago when my friend telephoned to tell me that her boyfriend had surprised her with tickets to a concert, however he would not reveal to her who the artist would be.
She loves music and her mind was racing because she knew that Yolanda Adams and Kirk Franklin were in town, so she was so excited because she loved these artist. However as soon as she reached the venue, she was not familiar with the name of the artist on the marquee but she kept an open mind. As soon as they walked into the building, she was overtaken by the smell of smoke which was an immediate concern for her because she knew this could not be a Christian venue. You see, my friend hasn’t been to a secular concert in more than 10 years, but she remembered that you could always find a smoky atmosphere at a secular venue and those were not good memories for her, but she kept her peace and a good attitude.
They finally made it to their seats and as soon as she sat down, she was literally startled when she heard the sound of an electric guitar that began to play rock music so loud that it shook her entire body violently. All she could think, was “I am in the Twilight Zone”! As she sat there and considered the matter, she got a shocking revelation and it was “I had no idea that my boyfriend liked rock music!” She said that she suffered through the opening act and right before the intermission her boyfriend said he was going to get them some soda and she said she just sat there in disbelief of the evening thus far.
Five minutes later she saw her boyfriend on stage with a guitar in his hand and he introduced himself as the most fortunate man in the house tonight because the love of his life was there. My friend was in shock and then he began to play a beautiful love song for her which literally brought her to tears because the song described how they met and how blessed he was to have found such a wonderful woman. After he sang his song he asked her to come to the stage and when she did, he got on his knees and asked her to be his wife. She was absolutely floored and had no idea that he was going to propose marriage, but she knew that she loved him and that he was a man who loved God and loved her, so through tearful eyes she accepted his proposal. Today they are blissfully married and enjoying life with their 3 year old son and beautiful chocolate lab.
The moral of this story? Sometimes the best things in life may not come to you in the package that you expect them to, so always live in the present and be open to new and exciting things because you never know where they may lead you. This week I am going to be suggesting 3 unique venues as my picks for the best places to propose. Today we are going back in time to the 11th Century to Medevil Times!
What is Medevil Times? It is dinner theatre with lots of action! You will be greeted by King Alfonson and his daughter Princess Esperanza who represent the Royal family and are hosted this Grand Ceremonial Arena event and all of you are guest. Guest are divided into sections and given color crowns and seating arrangements that correspond with the Knight that they will be cheering for throughout the evening. The MC will announce the opening of the Grand Ceremonial Arena and guest are seated to begin enjoying the Ceremonial Feast. The Feast includes: garlic bread, hot vegetable soup, roasted chicken, spare rib, seasoned potato, two rounds of beverages and a pastry or dessert of the castle. It’s Medevil times, so there is no silverware involved, but you can request all the napkins you desire from the Wenches and Serfs.
While you are feasting, you’ll enjoy an action packed show with horses, lances, swords and shields. 6 Knights will compete for the affections of the Princess and respect of the King. They’ll go through various exercises of strength, endurance and courage and eventually truth, honor and love triumphs over evil and the Kingdom is restored. Hmmm, that story sounds a little familiar.
After the show, adult guest are invited to visit the Knight Club where they’ll enjoy lively music and a large dance floor. They will also be able to meet and greet the Knights and Royal Family and pose for pictures or get autographs. Medevil Times also has a wonderful gift shop where you can buy souvenirs to take home in order to remember your time spent in the 11th Century.
If the love of your life loves action and adventure, this would be a great venue to propose. Check out Medevil times at www.medeviltimes.com to find out locations and show times in your area.
