Nicole Kidman Crashes on Set of the Invasion (2007)

by sumonova

On January 25, during a re-shoot in downtown Los Angeles and on the set of the science fiction thriller “The Invasion”, an accident occurred involving its star, Nicole Kidman. She was taken to a hospital.

The scene, in which the accident occurred, involved Nicole Kidman escaping from zombie-like characters on the hood of her Jaguar car. The Jaguar was being towed by a camera rig that skidded while taking a corner and caused Kidman’s car to hit a pole on West Sixth Street, police said. The actress was wearing a seat belt.

In a statement by Warner Brothers, it said “Nicole Kidman was in the vehicle at the time of the accident and was taken to the hospital for evaluation. She was released shortly thereafter.” No other actors were involved in the scene at the time of the accident.

39 year old Nicole Kidman was examined at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and then released a short time later. Paramedics were called to examine Kidman for injuries before she was taken to the hospital, police told reporters.

Eight people, including Kidman, stuntmen and cameramen, were taken to hospitals for examination and were released. Two crew members had minor injuries. Production continued after the crash, and Kidman was expected back on set the same day.

The current U.S. release date for The Invasion (2007) is August 17th, 2007.

The synopsis of this film is that a mysterious epidemic is infecting the world and a Washington DC psychiatrist (Nicole Kidman) discovers that the disease is caused by aliens. Her son becomes infected and she and a colleague must work together to find a cure, before the entire world is lost.

It is directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel and stars Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig, Jeremy Northam, Jackson Bond and Jeffrey Wright.

This is a another remake of the 1956 classic sci-fi film, “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”, which was directed by Don Siegel and starred the great Kevin McCarthy, Carolyn Jones, Dana Wynter, Larry Gates, King Donovan, among others. It is based on a story by Jack Finney that appeared in Collier’s magazine serial.

The basic premise is that some people are suffering paranoid delusions that their friends or relatives are impostors. An initially skeptical doctor eventually discovers that something odd has happened and wants to find out the truth. It can be seen as a paranoid warning against a Communist takeover.

It was redone in 1978 as “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”, directed by Philip Kaufman and a famous cast including Donald Sutherland, Brooke Adams, Jeff Goldblum, Veronica Cartwright and Leonard Nimoy. It also had two cameos from the 1956 version: Kevin McCarthy (star of the original) and Don Siegel (director of the original).
