Have you ever heard of Lander Baby Shampoo? Probably not. But I bet you’ve heard of Johnson’s Baby Shampoo. It might surprise you to find out that Lander Baby Shampoo is just as good as Johnson’s Baby Shampoo. Read on to find out why.
Every Mom wants what’s best for her baby. If you watch a commercial for Johnson’s Baby Shampoo, you might subconsciously start to believe that their shampoo is what’s best for your baby. Sure, your rational mind wouldn’t buy into that, but watch out for your subconscious. In watching the commercials you’ll probably get a sense that using Johnson’s Baby Shampoo will bring you and your baby the soothing, peaceful, special moments that are shown on the commercial. You’ll no doubt be convinced of the safety, comfort, and gentleness of their product. You might even begin to think that you wouldn’t be a good mother if you didn’t provide such a top quality product for your baby. This isn’t a joke. Johnson & Johnson, and many other large companies, spend big money on advertising to convince you to use their products. Unless you become conscious of the purpose of their advertisements, it is all too easy to let yourself be persuaded.
Now I have nothing against Johnson’s Baby Shampoo. I grew up using Johnson’s Baby Shampoo and I always liked it. I’m a fan of baby shampoo in general. The smell alone fills me with sentimental emotions and wonderful memories of my childhood and memories of my own children when they were babies. The question is, does Johnson’s Baby Shampoo own the secret to what makes baby shampoo so special? I, for one, don’t think so.
Okay. My name is Jennifer and I’m a user of Lander Baby Shampoo. I know. You’re thinking, “Lander, what kind of brand is Lander?” Well, Lander Baby Shampoo is the kind they sell at the Dollar Store. Yup. It costs $1. Yes, it comes in the same 15 oz. size bottle that Johnson’s Baby Shampoo comes in. Yes, I use it on my three children. And yes, it works just as well as Johnson’s.
You might wonder if a little known brand of baby shampoo will sting your baby’s eyes. Well, the answer for Lander Baby Shampoo is no. It will not sting your baby’s eyes. Even though the Lander Baby Shampoo does not bear the familiar “no more tears” label that is a trademark of Johnson’s Baby Shampoo, it does not bring your baby to tears, even if it gets in his eyes. Both of these baby shampoos, and probably many others, won’t sting if they get in your eyes. This is, after all, what makes baby shampoo a good choice for babies!
Both Johnson’s Baby Shampoo and Lander Baby Shampoo contain a lot of ingredients that are difficult to pronounce and that spellcheck doesn’t recognize. They are both that familiar golden yellow color. They both have that wonderful fresh clean distinctive baby shampoo smell. The main difference between them is that Johnson’s has a lot of touching commercials and other sentimental advertisements and Lander does not. This is, no doubt, what accounts for the price difference.
Johnson’s Baby Shampoo costs at least two and a half times more than Lander Baby Shampoo, depending on where you buy it. At my local grocery store the Johnson’s Baby Shampoo costs $3.69. On line, I found it for up to $4.49. The Lander Baby Shampoo is available at the Dollar Store for $1. I’m not sure where else you might be able to find it. But, in my opinion, it’s worth it to look around a little. You and your baby can enjoy the sweet smells and gentle cleansing of Lander Baby Shampoo without the high price of Johnson’s Baby Shampoo.
I do enjoy the Johnson’s Baby Shampoo commercials that bring back the tender sweet memories of babies, but I’ll continue to use Lander Baby Shampoo and let the rest of you pay extra for the commercials!
