Through communication facilitated by the grant writing professional, the Board of Directors should be alerted as to what the financial needs of the organization are and to re-iterate the key influence the non-for-profit organization has within the group or society it strives to serve. From this presentation to the Board of the Directors, the grant writing professional should not require or demand monetary donations from the Board of Directors but should, instead, ask for the support of the Board of Directors in obtaining names and contact information of key professional and personal contacts who may have interest in the organization and be willing to donate time as a volunteer, monetary donations and even donations of goods and supplies. As many grant writing professionals will learn, it is the Board of Directors who may supply the key influence over the networking aspect of fundraising for the non-for-profit organization and stimulate revenue for many years through these same network connections that provide repeated funding to the cause of the organization.
