These simple Jewelry Box photo magnets are a great craft project that kids can make to give to their grandparents, aunts and uncles, or even their parents. They are simple to make and really let the kid have fun creating and crafting their own magnetic gifts.
To Make These Simple Jewelry Box Photo Magnet gifts Your Kids Will Need:
Some photos of themselves
Cardboard Jewelry Boxes
Epoxy or white glue
Buttons, beads, old broken necklaces, twigs form the yards, crayons, rulers….
For an updated picture to put in the frame have the kids take photos of each other with the digital camera. They will love it. It will also make them feel like they are completely making this project from scratch!
Print the photos out on your computer or have them developed at your local film developer.
Now, have the kids use scissors or pinking sheers to cut their photos out to the same size as their Jewelry Box lids or bottoms. They will only need the top of the bottom, so each box can make two magnetic frames.
For added detail they could cut their photo out one inch smaller than the frame. Then they could use construction paper or even scrap booking paper to make a mat. They could cut this out to the same sizes as the Jewelry Box frame. Then glue their photo onto the background paper.
Next, insert the photo and mat.
The kids can se almost anything they want form around the house to embellish their Jewelry Box photo frame in any way they want.
Buttons glued around the edge are a great vintage look for this simple magnetic frame gift craft project.
They could also use a long piece of twine or yarn. Simple run a bead of hot glue around the edge of the Jewelry Box frame and lay the ribbon, twine or yarn into it.
Now, for a more natural looking border on this magnetic Jewelry Box photo frame you could have the kids collect a bunch of twigs form the yard. Small twigs can be cut to size with scissors or snapped the right length. Glue a few rows of these twigs around the plastic frame for a great cabin or woodsy look!
Flat wooden cutouts also look great on this simple photo frame. I find this al the time at the arts and craft store for about 25 cents apiece. The kid can paint on them with acrylic paints or even draw onto them with markers. The outline of the image is already made, just like in a coloring book. They can be attached to the photo magnetic frame with hot glue or white glue!
Ribbon is also a great addition to this simple handmade Jewelry Box magnetic frame gift. Have the kids tie the best bow that they can. Trim the ends in a V or diagonal cut. Then glue the simple ribbon bow onto the top of bottom of the plastic frame.
Dried flower petals and seeds also look great as a border on the magnetic photo frame.
Finally the kids could cut out their own designs out of card stock. It comes in a huge selection of colors and is very durable and perfect for this simple project!
Now, once all of the embellishments have dried stick your self adhering magnetic trip to the back of the jewelry box lid. This simple frame is lightweight and can easily stick to any fridge!
