If you are like me then you like to save time and will cut corners any where you can. There are so many ways to save time when it comes to using Microsoft Office, many users just don’t realize how many free resources are at their disposal. I am here to let you in on a website that has plenty of Microsoft Office templates you can use as often as you would like, and a bonus is they are free.
This website I am talking about is (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/default.aspx), a site provided by Microsoft Corp. This means you can trust the site and don’t have to worry if the downloads are safe, Microsoft ensures the downloads wont hurt you system. I also can speak from first hand experience and tell you that I have downloaded a lot of the templates and haven’t had any problems yet.
The website is fairly easy to navigate and use for even novice users. In no time you will be downloading templates. Some of the templates are made by users but since it’s a site run by Microsoft they ensure the quality of the template before they make it readily available to the users. They have templates for all Office programs and provide a good description for the products so you know what you are downloading and if it will suit your needs.
This website has so many templates for users; you can find one for nearly any need. Some great examples of ones I use quite often would be under the Invoices section, I got a word document that is great for when I do computer work for people, and need to bill them for parts, services, etc. The template I got even has self calculating fields so I don’t have to worry about adding the totals and worrying about taxes being added in. All I have to do is put in the amounts and my tax percentage for my state and viola I am done, all I need to do now is print and give to the customer.
This site is a great resource to small businesses, you can find templates for nearly every aspect of your business. There is a business card section so you can start getting the word around about your business. Then you can go to the contracts section so you can have a legal document for either work you perform, service you provide, or even a rental agreement. This is a great addition, but you might want to have a lawyer look it over to make sure it is an effect document. There are also sections for invoices, inventories, purchase orders, and many other parts that would help a small business. The best part is you don’t have to spend all your time creating these much needed forms. You can just download them and in minutes be prepared to start using them. They have an easy search function at the top of the page where you can type in keywords and find the template you need quite quickly.
Also there are plenty of templates for home users who just want to get some invitations made or maybe a flyer for a garage sale. There are plenty of templates varying in type, style, and use for almost every thing you can think of. There is even a section for managing your budget, what family cant use that? Most of the budget templates are for excel, and are again self calculating so it saves you time, just fill in the fields and you will get your results. Now you can track your budget and find ways to save more money, and you got your budget template free, pretty good start.
Some of these templates are pretty in-depth; the people who created them really know how to use the products they are working with. Each template is made for specific products and only some have backward compatibility so make sure you have the correct product that fits with the template. Obviously if the template you download isn’t working you should check the compatibility of your product with the template you downloaded.
I like how they have a section on the main page where they have three templates highlighted. They have the staff pick, featured template, and the built by request sections, all of which are filled with great templates that are always changing so check back frequently.
The site is pretty awesome offering you all sorts of goodies at no cost to you, and there is even a section where you can request certain documents to be made. I am not sure how they decide which ones need to be made or why they choose the ones, but they do frequently make templates that are requested by users. You can also submit your own template if you have one that you think is worthy.
I like how they also added some fun stuff to the website; they have a fun and games with templates section. You can download templates where you can play a game of hangman and even a template to solve the much loved Sodoku puzzles, if you want to cheat. They have also provided a link for downloading a trial version of Microsoft Office 2007, so you can find out if it is worth buying the upgrade. Microsoft also has a link for making sure your Microsoft Office product is up-to-date.
