*WARNING*- The following article contains personal views on the topic of religion. Everything said here is personal insight unless stated otherwise.
Religion has many different definitions. In my case religion is a true fallacy, a mythological fairy tale that makes me cringe every time I think about how many people believe the absurd stories that are told from “scriptures”. The Bible, for example, is a scripture telling about Jesus of Nazareth , the supposed “Son of God”. Do you know how many people follow this fairy tale? Over 2.1 billion people follow Christianity and fall into its abyss of fairy tales.
But first of all, what exactly is (a) “God”? Many religions believe it is a higher power, and call it “God(s)”, but is there a definitive definition of “God”? No, not exactly. To Christians (the religion I am aiming mostly at) he is a higher power, the inovationist behind man, the inventor of the universe, the giver of life. Yet this God hasn’t shown himself face-to-face with their “greatest invention”, people. People may say God speaks to them through prayer or miracles, but to me that’s just saying you hear voices, why aren’t you in a psychiatric ward? Because you can label whome speaks to you in your head and because of your physical stance during this event? Religion covers up too many things, and also contains too many loopholes. People can get away with almost anything if they use their religion as an excuse as a motive.
Everyone knows that cannabis, better known as marijuana, is illegal drug. Howeber since some religious groups consider it used in their religion they claim that since they have the constitutional right to freedom of religion, they have the freedom to smoke marijuana. Places such as the THC Ministry practice this expression as well, and even go as far as telling you how to evade the law when it comes to the use of marijuana.
The idea of a higher power is ridiculous when there is so much evidence proving the fact that evolution and science is the source of all creation.
Another thing I would like to know is why are so many people afraid to question their faith? A truly faithful person questions their faith, rather than fall into a void of lies and deceit. Once someone brings up the idea that possibly science can explain much more than religion ever can, they get upset and deny the claim that it is possible? Are you so arrogant about your beliefs that you do not take a second look? Are you so sure about your religion that you will not look at the physical evidence drawn together by hard working groups of scientists? Do you believe in Greek Mythology? Probably not. Why? Because their God’s meanings have been proven by science? We know that winds are controlled by many things, not Zephyrus, the Greek Mythological God of Wind. Since it is explained the idea of a God containing the power of wind’s control is abolished. The creation of man is different since it is not fully explained, but in time monotheistic beliefs will be abolished when science shows them the truth.
But why do people believe in religion so heavily? My belief is that people whome believe in religion so heavily is for a couple of reasons. First of all it’s because they were raised that way. You were brought up a devout Christian, you’re gonna stay that way most likely. Unless you’re like me and question your faith of course. The second reason is because I think people are covering up their hurt emotions and are sincerely scared about life’s unanswered questions like “What happens when we die?”, “Where does our soul go?”, ect. I cannot personally answer these questions for you, mostly since I am unsure myself what happens after death. I do know there is no evidence of an after life, or of a Heaven and Hell. What I do know is that every living creature goes through the process of life and death, so you have nothing to fear. If there is a God and a soul wouldn’t you have the choice to be resurrected? So wouldn’t people have come back if it wasn’t as good as life? I believe there is nothing after death, just eternal rest forever, as if you were laying down regularly except this time there’s no basic signs of life within the person.
Plus, religion hurts more then it helps. Religion causes wars like the crusades, can influence government although they are supposed to be seperate, and even started the Holocaust. Weren’t Jews persecuted for their beliefs? What if there was no set standards of beliefs, would there truly have been a Holocaust? I doubt it.
I’m not done yet. If there is a “God”, why does he allow so much evil in the world? Murders, rape, assaults, car accidents? He is our creator supposedly, he created the universe, but he cannot sway our emotions when it comes to hurting one another? Why would “God” allow us to deceive one another? Why is there darkness in this world created by the “God” we look up to, the “God” engulfed in infinite greatness and and aura of blinding light? I cannot tell you, for he is merely a fairy tale, a fictional story character.
These are my views on religion. I hope this sways some peoples views on religion and how absurb it is when you look at the big picture. I am agnostic leaning towards atheism, I think there is something out there, but I am unsure what it is, but I also think it is unlikely as well.
