It was nice eating at El Torito in Sacramento, California. This is a Mexican restaurant that will satisfy your taste buds. There are many reasons why I give El Torito two thumbs up.
The service is friendly and attentive. When I walked into the restaurant the hostess greeted me with a warm smile. She asked me with a friendly tone of voice how many people want to be seated and I told her two. She continued to smile as she walked us to our table. I thought her friendly smile and welcoming attitude made us feel valued as customers. When she seated us she handed us the menu and told us the server would be with us soon. The server approached us a minute later with some water. At the same time he greeted and welcomed us with a smile. He told us about the specials they were having. He asked us if we were ready to order and if we wanted to start off with some appetizers. I asked him what was good. He told me the grilled chicken quesadilla and toquitos are a big hit. We ordered the chicken quesadilla. After that we ordered a shared plate of grilled steak fajitas. After he took my order he told me he would be back shortly with our drinks. He came back four minutes later with our drinks, chips, salsa and our appetizer. He checked back with us after we had a few bites to see if we were enjoying our quesadilla. It only took about sixteen minutes before our main entrée was brought to us. He asked if we needed anything else and told us to enjoy our meal. When we finished he asked if we wanted dessert. He told us the Mexican flan and the chocolate cake is good. We ordered the flan.
The food was excellent. The chicken quesadilla was hot and fresh. It came with guacamole, which made it taste extra special. The Steak fajitas were sizzling when it was brought to our table. The steak was well done. It came with rice, beans, salsa, cheese and flour tortillas. It was plenty for two people to share. The dessert was a wonderful way to top off the evening. The flan had a caramel glaze at the top and custard on the bottom.
The atmosphere was attractive and entertaining. There were paintings of different places in Mexico. They had other Mexican décor such as hats, ponchos and flowers throughout the restaurant. It was fun to look at our surrounding while we waited for our food and while we were eating.
The restaurant had everything that I would expect from an excellent place to eat. I enjoyed the service, food and atmosphere. For a fun Mexican place to eat El Torito is the place to visit.
