The past few weeks I have been watching a new call in talk show. The show is called Unreliable Sources. It is on Friday nights from 11 to 1 am CT. The show is hosted by Jason and Gary Roberts. It originates from Little Rock, Arkansas. I have only been watching it for a few weeks now but, I believe it has been on for a while. Jason is a graduate of Duke University. He lists himself as a Lawyer. He appears to be the liberal of the two. Gary appears to take the side of a conservative.
The show is live. They start out by throwing just a few items in the news out to the general public. Examples that they have done are things like a picture of Brittany Spears on Foxnews.com or the shooting at Virginia Tech. People are then allowed to call in at their toll free numbers and comment. An individual can comment on just about anything. Anything is fair game. People are allowed 30 seconds to a minute to make their comments. However, if they get bad or are in poor taste, they are cut off. Whenever a caller calls in, they are asked where they are from and where that is located at.
During the first few weeks, they didn’t have a lot of callers. Lately though, the call lines are backing up. The show is sort of a grass roots type. After a person has called in and made a comment, Jason and Gary usually talk to the individual or comment themselves about the comment the caller made. Sometimes they interject a bit of humor into their comments. If a caller makes a comment that is pertinent to their overall discussion, they are usually praised for their addition to the discussion.
Their set for the show is a couple of easy chairs with a small table in between. They also do commercials and adds with signs hanging behind them in the middle of the set. One sign gave an advertisement about Crawdad Days being held May 18 & 19 in Harrison, Arkansas. They change these signs throughout their show.
The show moves very quickly from caller to caller. They try to get as many calls in as possible in their two hour program. Often times they jump from one subject to a different subject and then back again to the original subject. They show pictures or videos of current news events and let people respond to them also.
They have no major web site although both Gary and Jason have a My Space site. They can be found at www.myspace.com/unreliablesources and www.myspace.com/unreliablesources2 .
Television stations where they can be seen are kwbf, kwbm, wngs, wgmu, wpxs, kcbu, wbif, wblu, kegs, kfdf, wsav, wbtw, wmgf, ktvc, kqup, kwce, kdve, and more. Their toll free phone numbers for the show are 866-693-8266 and 866-282-0101.
I don’t think the Tonight Show or Late Night Show with Dave Letterman have anything to worry about. However, this program gives individuals a chance to speak their mind about certain topics that affect our everyday lives. Gary and Jason often joke about their ratings. Every now and then, they will have a guest on their show that is allowed to interact with them in their discussion. Their guests are not big stars or famous people. They are just common people from everyday life.
I enjoy their program and I think it will get better as it becomes more popular. If you get the opportunity, check it out.
