Rosa’s Café And Tortilla Factory

by sumo nova

Temecula, California is home to a large demographic of young families with children. The Temecula area also boasts hundreds of restaurants; it seems there’s a group of restaurants on every corner. One that stands out among the crowds for its inexpensive fare is Rosa’s Café and Tortilla Factory.

Not only is Rosa’s a charming little restaurant with its vibrant Mexican décor, the food is good and the staff is friendly. Part of Rosa’s appeal is the price tag, their selection of kid’s meals (complete with an entrée, rice or beans, a drink and a toy) cost about $3 and combination plates typically run about $5. With its walk up ordering and pick up system, there’s no need to leave a hefty tip though a dollar or two for the bus service is appreciated. All in all, a family of four can dine out for about $20-$25 including soft drinks and a tip. Splurging on dessert doesn’t break the bank either. A basket of four warm sopapillas, fried tortillas sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon and drizzled with honey, will only add about $2 to the bill.

Rosa’s is a kid-friendly café with a large dining area filled with booths and tables as well as a large outdoor patio area. Kids flock to a large glass window where they can watch the tortilla making machine spit out fresh, homemade flour tortillas. The tortillas are one of the highlights of each meal; all combination plates come with fresh tortillas. There’s nothing like loading up a homemade tortilla with refried beans and a spicy salsa.

Rosa’s fresh salsa bar offers a salsa for every taste including a pico de gallo, a mild salsa, a salsa verde and a hot salsa for those who prefer their salsa hot. In addition, the salsa bar has chopped onions, cilantro, lime wedges and even packages of ranch dressing.

Rosa’s also serves margaritas and both Mexican and domestic beers. Two self-serve soda fountains are centrally located and always busy.

This Mexican restaurant in Temecula is faster than many fast food joints in town. Oftentimes, the order is ready before the drinks have been filled and a table obtained. Because of its good food, great prices and friendly service, Rosa’s is a popular destination for both lunch and dinner. Finding a table can be challenging at times but the turnover is fast and the bus staff is efficient.

For those on the run, Rosa’s also has a handy drive through window. Other services include catering. Their catering menu is extensive and even comes with an onsite charbroiler barbeque.

Rosa’s Café and Tortilla Factory in Temecula is part of a larger chain based out of Texas. The Temecula location is their only branch located in California. Looking at the success of Rosa’s in Temecula, don’t be surprised to see more Rosa’s locations opening soon.
