This a fun Glittery project for the kids to make out of outdated and recycled frames. All kids love glitter and this is an easy way kids can redo a simple old frame into something new!
These simple glittery frames are perfect for kids to make as a gift more Mom, Dad, and the grandparents!
To make this simple Glittery picture frames kids will need:
1 inexpensive wood picture frame
I find great little wooden picture frames at the dollar store, flea markets, yard sales, and even Wal Mart. They are super cheap and perfect to turn into this simple Glittery frame craft project.
So, the first thing I like to do is lightly sand the picture frame. Make sure you take the back off and the glass out.
Wipe off any dust.
Paint on a layer of primer.
Now, once that has dried go ahead and paint your picture frame in any color you like. The whole reason to paint this frame is that you can see it behind the Glitter, so you want it to match.
Tip: Try painting in a similar color as your glitter. This will enhance the color of your glitter and really make a solid looking frame.
Once the paint had dried you can start to glue on your Glitter. I like to use fine Glitter for this simple craft project.
Now, simply water down your white glue with a little water. Paint this onto your frame with a paintbrush. Have the kids lay the picture frame on a table covered in newspaper.
Now, start sprinkling on the fine glitter. Cover the entire frame.
Now, lay this out to dry.
Don’t forget to cover the sides of the frame with Glitter and glue as well.
Now, you should glue on a fun little ribbon on the top middle of the Glittery picture frame. Look for a little fun add a sparkly ribbon.
For a fun and girly look you could use all pink Glitter to cover the entire picture frame. Glue on a fun little purple ribbon and put a picture of your little girl in there.
To really preserve this simple Glittery frame let the gumdrops and glue dry completely for about 1 day. Then spray on a coat of clear acrylic spray paint. Then glue on the ribbon or bow.
The clear acrylic spray paint will keep any loose glitter from falling off.
For an eclectic look use a mix a few different colors of glitter.
You can also glue on your glitter in stripes and even polka dots. Simply paint on the glue in the desired pattern. Add the glitter to the frame. Now, apply the rest for your paint and finish it off with more glitter in another color.
Kids can use this step to write letters and even spell their names onto the glittery frames! Look for frames with a wider frame if you want to spell out words or names in the glitter.
