This a fun project for the kids to make out of jelly beans during the Easter holidays. Their sweet creations can be used to decorate the fireplace mantel or even the China buffet for Easter. Simple and colorful jellybeans make this craft project fun and easy for kids!
To make this simple gum drop picture frame kids will need:
1 inexpensive wood picture frame
Small Christmas Ribbon
I find great little wooden picture frames at the dollar store, flea markets, yard sales, and even Wal Mart. They are super cheap and perfect to turn into this simple jellybeans Easter frame craft project.
So, the first thing I like to do is lightly sand the picture frame. Make sure you take the back off and the glass out.
Wipe off any dust.
Paint on a layer of primer.
Now, once that has dried go ahead and paint your picture frame in any pastel color you like. The whole reason to paint this frame is that you can see it behind the jellybeans, so you want it to match.
Once the paint had dried you can start to glue on your jellybeans. I like to use miniature jellybeans for this simple Easter craft project.
For an elegant look try gluing all pink miniature jelly beans onto the frame. You can run a bead of hot glue along the frame and start pushing the back of the jellybeans into the glue. The backs of the jellybeans can sometimes be larger than the tops, so you want to glue them on.
Don’t forget to cover the sides of the frame with miniature jellybeans as well.
Now, if you used all purple miniature jellybeans you should glue on a fun little pink ribbon on the top middle of the picture frame. Look for a little fun add a sparkly pink ribbon.
For a fun and girly look you could use all pink jellybeans to cover the entire Easter picture frame. Glue on a fun little purple ribbon and put a picture of your little girl in there.
To really preserve this simple jellybean Easter frame let the jellybeans and glue dry completely for about 2 days. Then spray on a coat of clear acrylic spray paint. Then glue on the ribbon or bow.
Miniature jellybeans are also a great size for really small picture frames. Tiny frame can easily be turned into simple jelly beans picture frame ornaments you can hand in a row in your windows. Before you add any jellybeans take you staple gun and staple a looped ribbon to the back of the wooden frame. Make sure the ribbon matches you jelly beans! Just cut the ribbon to about 6 inches long. Fold it in half and staple in place on the back of the frame. Now decorate with the miniature jellybeans.
