If you are expecting a baby then you are probably already trying to decide what items you need for the nursery and where you should put them. The one thing that many parents don’t think about is how to arrange their baby nursery in a functional way. Most of the time you will be getting up in the middle of the night and you really should take the time to set the room up in a way that will help make things easier for you. Following are a few ideas and suggestions on what you need for your nursery and some suggestions on where you should put them.
One of the first things that you will need is a small baby lamp. There are a lot of baby lamps that come with bulbs similar to nightlights. The lamps usually have beautiful designs on them so that when the lamp is turned on it makes a beautiful design on the walls. A lamp is definitely a much better choice than a nightlight, since nightlights tend to be a bit smaller. Also the design form the lamp will help to keep your baby comforted at night, especially as he or she gets older. You should place your lamp in an area where it will give equal amount of lighting through out the room. A center location is usually best. If you have a dresser for your baby then on top of the dresser is usually a nice location for a baby lamp. Or you can put up a shelf on the wall made just for the lamp. This will definitely add a nice touch to the room.
The next thing that you will need for your nursery is of course a changing table. Since most parents don’t end up using the changing table for very long, you could get a small, inexpensive yet sturdy changing table. Make sure that your changing table is able to hold all of your necessary items, like diapers, wipes, and so on. I may be a good idea to put your changing table right next to the crib, this way everything is close by when you have to do that middle of the night diaper changes. Another baby nursery necessity is a comfortable chair that you can use when nursing your baby. This chair does not have to be a rocking chair. It just has to e a chair that is comfortable for you to nurse in and put your baby back to sleep. Your nursery chair could be place in the corner of the room perhaps on the opposite side of the room. One final suggestion on what necessities you need for your functional nursery room is the garbage pail. You don’t need a really big one, a small to medium size one will do. This should be place right next to the changing table, for quick disposable. If you keep everything that you need on a daily basis and especially at night in one main place it will definitely make things a lot easier for you. Before the baby comes why not try arranging the furniture in different ways in order to find out which way will work best for you.
