Rewind to the summer of 2004. I had just purchase a new home and had friends visiting me from out of town. As we were on our way doing what we do best; shopping of course, we found ourselves sitting in Atlanta traffic and the roads were still wet from the rain earlier in the day. I am always very cautious on the highway, especially when it’s wet, so I drove a little below the speed limit to stay on the side of caution. A few miles before my destination, I realized in my mirror what appeared to be a teen driver on the telephone whose car was nearly on the bumper of my brand new jet black jaguar. I even caught her eyes in the rear view mirror while we were at a standstill on the highway and motioned to her to slow down. Once the traffic moved again, I realized that she was still not paying attention to the flow of traffic in front of her, so I kept a close watch and even tried to get in another lane because I felt she was driving recklessly. My instincts were right on target, because once traffic slow yet again, she was not paying attention and she was heading right smack into the back of my vehicle, so I tried to move over as close to the guard rail as I could, but she still slammed into the left side of my car and took off half off my trunk and forced one of my tires loose.
The accident left my lower back and neck stiff and my doctor recommended that I visit a local Chiropractor. I wasn’t sure what to expect since I had never been to a Chiropractor before, so I was a little anxious because I don’t like to visit doctors of any kind. My first visit was a little tense with the unwanted cracking of bones and such, but the other therapies were quite enjoyable. There was a table that I would lie on that had a mechanical rolling arm that would massage my lower back area and it was heavenly. Then I would receive hands on massages by the therapist that left my body feeling relaxed and stress free. I remember wanting to add another day on to my weekly visits and the Doctor looked at me with a smile and said “Karen, this is not Spa Sydell”? I had never gone to a Spa before, so I didn’t know what Spa Sydell was, so when I asked him about it, he told me who they were and what services they offered. So once I finished my therapy with him he released me and told me I should try going to a spa because I would love it; so that’s just what I did, besides who am I to argue with the professionals.
I found the closest Spa Sydell and made an appointment and for my first visit I decided to try the aromatherapy massage that offered a calm serene atmosphere with very soft music playing in the background with lovely lavender fragrances coming from the candles that were lit in the room. The massage was light to medium pressure applied which was just right and I felt very comfortable. At the end of the session, I thought, ‘wow, where did the time go”. It was over and I was already scheduling my next appointment.
