Stained Glass Shower Curtain

by sumo nova

Transforming existing clear Shower Curtain into stained glass works of art is an easy craft project. You can make this simple stained glass Shower Curtain for your own home or even as a fun hostess gift.

Making this stained glass Shower Curtain should take you about 2 hours tops!

To Transformed Your Clear Shower Curtain into Stained Glass Art You Will Need:

Peel and stick lead

Clear Shower Curtain

Stained Glass Paint

Paint Brushed

Scissors

Puff paint (optional)

To start this craft project you need to decide on a pattern. Your stained glass Shower Curtain pattern will determine what stained glass paint colors you need to buy.

Measure the clear Shower Curtain you are going to transform. Mark this space out on a piece of drawing paper and sketch out your design. If you have markers I suggest coloring in areas the colors you would like them to be. The more specific you are in the planning the less room for mistakes.

Once you have established your stained glass Shower Curtain design you need to transfer it to your Shower Curtain. I like to tape the sketch to the inside of the Shower Curtain so that it shows through the front. You can fill in just like a coloring book!

Painting the stained glass Shower Curtain is the next step. Use a natural bristle artist paintbrush to fill in your colors. Work up to the edges in each block of color. You will be covering the rough edges with peel and stick lead (or black colored puff paint), so you don’t have to make them absolutely perfect.

Once your stained glass Shower Curtain is completely painted you need to let it dry complete. While your paint is drying your can work on your peel and stick lead.

Remove the sketch from the back of the Shower Curtain and use this to cut out your peel and stick lead.

This is a great way to make your stained glass look built into the shower curtain.

Once you lead is cut you can install it. Carefully apply your peel and stick lead over all of the edges, just like real stained glass.

Tips:

-Use clear Shower Curtains from the dollar store to save money. I like to soak mine in some hot soapy water for about 10 minutes to get that powder off the shower curtain.

-Check out www.dickblick for different stained glass paint products. They have a nice selection and each bottle is only about $2.30.

-Go online and check out some stained glass patterns to get some inspiration. You can really get creative with a little help!!

-The kids can really help make these stained glass Shower Curtain as well. They would make a great gift for Mom or Dad!
