The time is fast approaching when your children will have to decide what they are going to do over the long hot summer and the day camps in California offer a great variety of opportunities to learn and have fun at the same time. Do you have a budding actor or actress in your midst, the child who always get up to sing, invited to or not? This is a chance for you to let them go all out by participating in putting on a play. They have numerous locations, West LA / Venice, Chatsworth, Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach and El Segundo. They also have special event days on Friday with some great surprises in store. You can arrange for an extended day and you must send non perishable snack and lunch.
There are three sessions.

Cali- Camp Summer Day Camp is accredited by the American Camp Association. They pack a lot of action into one day with everything from arts and crafts to dune buggies and gymnastics. You can come and tour the camp, an excellent idea, Monday through Friday 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
Children are invited to attend too. The children are grouped by grade level and age and they do make accommodations for special needs children. Check out their transportation page. There are different options available depending on where you life.

There can’t be any better place on earth to learn about film making than on the back lot of Universal Studios. You have the choice of day or sleep away within the same program.
Tweens Summer Camp (AGES 10-13)
The Two-Week Filmmaking Camp and Acting for Film summer camps meet Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm with a one-hour lunch break for two consecutive weeks. Students may also choose to enroll only in the first week of the Two-Week Workshop. During the program, film school students will work in small crews to make their films. Students will get the opportunity to fulfill each of the basic crew positions as well as write, direct and edit their short films of up to three minutes.
Teen Programs (ages 14-17)
There is a lot to choose from in the Teen Programs. They have 1, 4, 6 and 12 week programs in 16mm and digital film making. Film school students may use any one, or all, of the projects they complete in a portfolio of their work. This portfolio may serve as an excellent addition to their application to college. Many undergraduate film or arts programs will request examples of an applicant’s work
