Spring, Crafts and a chance to support the YMCA. Three good reasons to come to The Flower town Festival in Somerville, South Carolina. It will be held this year Friday, March 30, Saturday, March 31, and Sunday, April 1 and there is much more than flowers to the festival. Just take a brief look some of the things that will be going on, pick your favorites and come and celebrate the end of winter, the beginning of spring and Somerville, South Carolina.
The event is taking place at The Ponds, which is a new community being planned and the festival will be in their Azalea Park, a beautiful wooded retreat and of course there are the azaleas. It is a perfect setting for a festival.
All three days of the festival, there will be 200 crafters demonstrating and selling their crafts. These are not your homemade variety, these are professional crafters and there will be crafts and items that you have never seen or experienced. What a great opportunity to buy a one of a kind gift for Mother’s or Father’s Day. These are more than crafts, they are works of art.
You will not go hungry for sure with all the food avaialble. There will be at least 13 area restaurants participating The Taste Of Somerville right on the grounds. You can get a bit from each one and really chow down.
There will be two music venues with free entertainment all during the festival, one in Azalea Park and one by the Town Hall. These musicians are donating their time and talent to support the YMCA, so stop by and show you appreciation and enjoy some great music.
You know a festival of this size and scope will not forget the children. They will have their own section right on Main Street with rides, entertainment, food and arts and crafts.
The pre festival activities will start on March 18th with the Fowertown Festival Run, so if you are going to be in the area, dust off your running shoes and get in some good exercise. You will have plenty of time to rest up before the actual festival starts.
If golf is more your idea of exercise? Not to worry, they will have The 16th Annual Flower town Golf Classic. Get your practice swings in and check back on the site for the exact dates.
This is one festival that really does have something for everyone, so if you have the opportunity come and join the citizens of Somerville, South Carolina and enjoy some good old Southern Hospitality.
They have not forgotten the tennis players either. There will be a mixed doubles tournament for junior, adult and senior players.
