Clothing prices today can be excessive, but you can find brand-name discount clothing without breaking the bank. In order to find the best deals, you’ll have to do a little digging, but what you’ll find is that just because you’re buying discount clothing, it doesn’t mean that the quality is poor or that the clothing is out-of-style. The following are some options for you as you begin your search for quality discount clothing.
Warehouse Clubs: Yes, I know it sounds weird to those who don’t belong to warehouse clubs, but they can be a great source of first-class discount clothing. Our local Sam’s Club carries clothing by Levi’s, Nine West, Ralph Lauren, Guess, Nautica, Anne Klein, Jones New York and other top notch designers. The prices are much lower than what you would pay in department stores, with sweaters and jeans at a suggested retail price of $80 (or more) usually costing $20 or so. Discounts can be much higher if the clothing is marked down due to closeouts. You can also find children’s discount clothing (with names such as Carter’s and OshKosh) at prices less than those found at even the outlet stores. You’ll be limited to the selection that they have and you might not find exactly the item that you’re looking for, but you will definitely find high-quality brand name discount clothing at your local warehouse club.
Outlet Stores: The outlet stores are also a great place to find discount clothing by your favorite makers. The BabyGap outlet store has a large selection of reasonably priced clothes – some of these may be “last year’s models,” but this year I found that I liked what that had at the outlet store much better than what they had in the mall (at prices that were more than half off of the mall prices). The Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, and Eddie Bauer outlet stores are among those also have great selection and deals on discount clothing. Sometimes you’ll see that the clothes are out-of-season (or almost at the end-of-season), but you can use the opportunity to stock up on bargains for next year.
Discount Retailers: The most common place to look for discount clothing is discount retailers such as T.J. Maxx, Marshalls and Value City. These stores specialize in bring in brand name clothing, shoes, and other merchandise at lower prices. These retailers feature top brands such as Columbia, Ralph Lauren, and Kenneth Cole at prices that are much less than those found at department stores. You will have to pick through the racks to find what you’re looking for, and again the selection won’t be as great as that found in the department store, but the prices make it worth a look here before buying at the mall.
