First Colony Inn
Nags Head, NC
The building was “the Grand Old Lady” of Nags Head in it’s hey day. In 1988 it had fallen into disrepair and the Atlantic ocean was threatening to destroy it. In the late summer of 1988, the inn was relocated three miles south. House movers cut the building into three sections and reassembled it. The rehabilitation that followed took three years, and returned the inn to it’s original appearance. The two story building is surrounded by verandas and covered by an overhanging roof. Traditional furnishings ensure modern comfort int the historical charming building. Today the inn is the sole-surviving “beach-style” hotel. It is on the national Register of Historic places.
Unique inn offers real southern hospitality. Breakfast includes a breakfast buffet which is a deluxe continental breakfast with a daily “hot” dish.
