As noted in my article on paid survey scams, I don’t take getting ripped off lightly and no one should. And though I have been duped by an online scam, I keep an open but cautious mind concerning free product offerings, and when it comes to TrialPay, I’m glad I gave it a chance.
Because I came across a TrialPay offer quite by accident and some may wonder if it is a scam, as I did, I thought I’d share my happy camper experience.
First I visited the ZoneAlarm website simply to download the free ZoneAlarm firewall, a product I have used off and on for years. To my surprise, ZoneAlarm presented with a screen on TrialPay and how to get a free copy of the ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite which retails for $49.
At first glimpse the TrialPay concept was reminiscent of the paid survey sites that promise to offer cash or “free” products, with unreasonable qualifications, boatloads of spam and potential scams.
If it were not for the long-standing reputation of ZoneAlarm I may not have looked further at TrialPay and simply downloaded the free version I was originally after.
But as I recently upgraded my PC memory I was very interested in obtaining the full suite, to replace the one I have, and felt the free product requirements of TrialPay were worthy of investigation.
Therefore I clicked on the TrialPay Checkout and entered my name and email address and was presented with various trial and paid offers in an array of categories. Familiar with some of them, I specifically looked for offerings that I know receive many complaints and didn’t find any. Though I can’t speak for all the offers, the free trials looked pretty good.
Rather than get a free trial via TrialPay, I elected for the free business cards from Vista Print whereas you are charged for shipping only. As a good consumer I upgraded to a version I could better customize and offered higher quality designs.
In the end, I spent about $13 including shipping for some nice looking 250-count business cards and was instantly credited by TrialPay for the ZoneAlarm offering. Within a minute I received the download instructions and a serial number for the free product.
Overall, I obtained nice business cards and the ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite for $13, which is a great deal. Yet, a purchase isn’t required for a TrialPay offer.
Given TrialPay lists vendors I like including GAP and Lancôme, I was hoping to find more offerings at trialpay.com. Unfortunately, the site only contains information for merchants and advertisers.
But I look forward to seeing more TrialPay offers in the future, the premise makes good marketing sense. And I look forward to becoming a repeat customer should they offer additional free products I can use.
