To Embellish an Existing Pillar Candle With Christmas Touches you will need:
Candle Wax (or Crayons)
Silicone Spray
Glass Dish
Christmas Cookie Cutter
2 Glass bowls
Hot Water
Cold Water
Now the first step is to Melt candle wax or crayons. You can do this by simply microwaving the on high for 15 seconds at a time in a glass dish. Microwave in intervals until the wax sis melted.
Now, pour the melted wax into a glass dish lightly coated with silicone spray. Be sure the wax is not thicker than 1/8 inch thick. If you make the wax embellishments too thick they will look silly sticking out on your pillar candle.
Once the wax in the glass dish is solid but still soft you can spray silicone onto a cookie cutter and press it into the soft wax. This is just like cutting out your Christmas cookie cutters and every simple to do. You should not burn your and, but the wax will be warm to the touch.
Remove the excess wax from around the shape with a knife. You can trim any little details you need to at this point. You could also use a needle or wooden skewer to poke out any open holes or design in the Christmas embellishment. Now, allow the wax shape to cool completely.
Once the Christmas wax shape is cooled you need to fill one bowl with hot water and one with cold water.
Put your Christmas shaped wax cut out in the hot water to soften it up. While soft wrap the wax cut out around the pillar candle so that the curves of the candle match exactly to your wax cut out design.
Now, immediately put the wax cut out in cold water so it will hold the curves. I like to put a few ice cubs in my cold water. This helps the curved wax cutout immediate.
Dip your paintbrush into the some more hot wax you have melted in a separate small glass bowl. Paint it onto the back of the curves wax Christmas shape. This will be the glue that holds the Christmas cut out onto your existing pillar candle. Use some hot wax to adhere the wax cut out design to the pillar candle.
The candle is done.
Tips:
You could re-dip the entire candle in clear wax. This will create a cohesive look.
Bees wax can also be used to create the cut out designs.
Leftover crayon bit are perfect for this project.
You can also use a new box of Crayolas if you need to create a specific color on your Christmas cutout design.
